Your parents died when you were a child. Cybermen came into your house and just took them away from you... You were left alone, there were no relatives alive or anyone who you knew, so you were taken to the orphanage.
You grew up and lived by your own now but the dreams about your parents were still with you... After you met him.
The Doctor.
He offered you a trip to the stars and ever since you were traveling with him. The Doctor told you a lot of stories about his life and of course one of them was about the Cybermen. That's when you found out that he saved the world from them... but didn't save your parents.
You weren’t angry or mad at him... It wasn't his fault and you realized that. He couldn't save everyone, no one ever can. But you didn't tell him about how your parents died, you just tried to change the subject every time they started talking about this.
You were having a nightmare about them as always, sleeping in your room in TARDIS. Since the begging of her traveling with the Doctor, you asked him to make your room soundproof and, even though he didn't want to, he did it. You always locked your door so he didn't hear you screaming at night.
But this time TARDIS reloaded and opened all the doors. It was the middle of the night and you were dreaming about your parents again... The Cyberman put its metallic arm on your mom as they were walking out side. Your parents were screaming to you to stay home, to lock the doors, to hide... And you just remember you crying and screaming for them.
"Mom! Dad! Please don't leave me!" you cried in your sleep "Where are you taking them!? Mom, no!"
Through the sleep you felt someone's arm on your shoulder and thought it was a Cyberman, you thought that they came for you too, that they'll kill you as they did to your parents.
"No!" you screamed waking up and crying.
"Hey Y/N, hey shhh" you heard someone next to you "Its me, it’s the Doctor, I'm here" he pulled you close so your head now lied on his chest.
You were sitting like that and quietly sobbing for another few minutes as you pulled away. You rubbed your eyes and looked at him. The Doctor looked completely different: he worn simple gray t-shirt with some kind of print on it and cozy pants. Of course you knew that the Doctor didn't always wear suit with a coat but you have never seen him wearing something else. Now he looked so... regular and comfy.
"You okay?" he asked you while putting your hair behind the ear.
"Yeah" you answered weakly, closing your eyes and trying to calm down.
"That were your parents, wasn't it?" he bit his lip as he watched your face.
"Doctor, I..." you opened you eyes and looked at him "I didn't tell you something about my parents... specifically about how they died"
"You don't have to" he frowned at you with the worried look.
"No... I have to... because it's connected with you"
He slowly opened and closed his mouth. This probably the first time when he didn't find the words to answer so he just climbed on your and put you on his lap "Go on" softly said he and you were so thankful you didn't have to tell this in his face. You knew he was going to blame himself and you didn't want him to... but you knew you have to tell him the truth.
"I was a child back then... It started as a regular day but after... everyone gone crazy, everyone were running away and screaming so my parents got scared and just hid in our house. Then... someone broke the door and came in... it was Cybermen... they took them away from me... they just led them out as they didn't matter at all..." you sobbed again and felt like Doctor's arm starting to holding you tighter "But I want you to know that I don't blame you for not saving them... and mostly important I don't want you to blame yourself for that"
You turned your head to him and noticed how his eyes became so much sadder "Please, Doctor, promise me to not blame yourself"
He bit his lip and closed his eyes "You know that I always keep my promises" he started and opened his eyes "So I'm trying to not give promises that I can't keep" the Doctor smiled you with the saddest smile ever and you felt so terrible.
"I..." you tried to say something but you knew it was useless, you knew the Doctor way too well... He won't stop blaming himself... but you didn't want him to struggle.
"That's okay, love" he kissed your forehead and put your head back on his chest "As long as you're with me, I'm going to be okay" he whispered and you felt as you were falling asleep.
You never felt so comfortable as now in his warm arms. This time you had a dream about you and Doctor, about your adventures and... about you being in love with each other.
Well, maybe this dream wasn't so unreal.
