I laid on my back staring at the ceiling in complete darkness my weight sinking in our soft bed. My left hand fiddled with the piece of paper I found under you hat earlier this morning the words circling around my head.
He's already gone.
Thats all I could think about. Nothing else mattered a small part of me knew these words meant you were dead. But my heart told me otherwise, that you were alive and I had to find you. I would not stop until I had you back in my arms. I laid in silence those same words flying around my head.
I noticed the sun start to rise some time later, I hadn't slept, I hadn't slept in weeks, not properly at-least, not since you disappeared. I couldn't bare the thought of waking without you by my side not knowing where you are or if you are safe.

The sun was fully arisen by the time I stood up from our bed and stumbled into the bathroom to get ready to go to work. Staring into the mirror I could hardly recognise myself I looked completely different, my face had thinned, my eyes were heavy and shadows engulfed my features. I stared into my eyes I saw nothing but dark holes. Knowing you wouldn't want to see me like this I put on a smile, thinking of you and the good times we encountered, together.

I threw my bag over my shoulder, picked up my keys and locked the front door behind me.
scrambling into my car. I looked at the time realising I was behind schedule. I put my foot on the exhaust and drove to my work place.
It was just another day at the office.
