When Derek woke up, Stiles was gone. He tried not to feel too broken up about that, but he was kind of looking forward to waking up with Stiles in his arms. He understood, Stiles had a restaurant to run, he couldn't spend all of his time with Derek. Derek sighed & got up, slipping off his shirt. He debated if he should shower before eating, but his stomach won the argument. He made his way to the kitchen & froze when he saw Stiles at his stove. He was shaking his hips to a song he was humming.. it was really enticing. Derek cleared his throat, deciding to stop that before someone made an appearance. Stiles turned, smiling at Derek. "Hey good looking." "Hi." Stiles looked him up & down, letting out an appreciative hum, before turning back to the food. "Sit, I made us breakfast. How are you feeling?" Derek sat down at the small table he had set up in his apartments kitchen. "Good, I think I had one of those twenty four hour viruses." Stiles nodded & brought over two plates. He sat one in front of Derek, giving Derek a kiss, & then sat down with his own plate across from him. Derek was still sort is shocked that Stiles was still here & cooking him breakfast. Stiles stopped eating when he realized Derek was staring at him. "What's wrong? Was I suppose to pray first?" Derek smiled a little. "No, I mean you can if you want to. I just thought you left." Stiles looked at him weird. "Remember yesterday, I said I wasn't leaving until you were better or kicked me out. I didn't know if you were better this morning & I don't think you've kicked me out yet." "I know, I just.. I woke up & you weren't there. I just assumed you went to work or something." Stiles chuckled. "Nope, but next time I'll make sure to be there when you wake up." Derek smiled at the thought of there being a next time. "Erica stopped by, said she had your manuscript ready for Monday & to get better soon." Derek smiled. "I'm assuming you added that last part & took out some other parts." Stiles blushed. "No.. maybe. She might have invited you, her, & her fiance to tonight's family dinner. Something about wanting to meet the people Isaac calls his second family. And then made some innuendos to make me very uncomfortable." Derek laughed. "She's like that. She's never been afraid to say what's on her mind, even if it's not politically correct. I hope you're okay with her inviting us?" Stiles chuckled. "No, that's fine. How'd you guys meet?" "Through Isaac. I guess they were sort of friends in high school. Then when they met up again in college, we all got really close. Along with Erica's fiance, Boyd. We sort of made up our own makeshift family." Stiles smiled. "I know how that is. After my mom, it was just Lydia, our dad, & myself. Then in high school, my dad married my best friend's mom. Lydia met Allison, who was actually Scott's girlfriend at the time, & Allison's dad sort of tagged along. Danny & Jackson were our friends from high school, who some how fit in too. Then in college Scott met Isaac & Allison gave birth to Ronnie. You don't have to be blood to be family." Derek smiled & nodded. "Yeah." "So what's your uncle like?" Derek chuckled. "Uncle Peter is a character. Most people can't stand him, he's snarky & cryptic, kind of creepy. But once you get to know him, he's alright. Somehow he's been in a stable relationship for years." Stiles nodded. "Sounds like you guys are close." "We weren't always, but the last few years have brought us closer." Stiles nodded again & took the last bite of his food. Derek quickly followed & smiled at Stiles. "You really are an amazing cook." Stiles smiled. "Thank you." Stiles took both of their plates to the sink, going to wash them. Derek came up behind him, wrapping his arms around Stiles' front. "Leave them, you cooked." "Exactly, so I should clean up the mess I made." "No, I ate the delicious food you made us too. I'll take care of them in a little bit." Stiles sighed, leaning into Derek's bare chest. "Fine." Derek smiled, kissing the back of Stiles' neck. Stiles turned & wrapped his arms around Derek's neck. They smiled at each other, before Derek leaned in, brushing his lips against Stiles'. Stiles hummed & pressed in for more. Derek gladly permitted him to & quickly lifted Stiles onto the counter. Stiles moaned & pressed closer to Derek. By the time they pulled away, they were both breathing pretty hard & some other things were hard too. Stiles pressed their foreheads together, kissing the tip of Derek's nose. "I don't want to go too far yet. I've gone too fast in a relationship before & it didn't end well." That reminded Derek of what John said about Stiles' exes. "Your dad said something the other night about your ex looking like a nice guy, but he wasn't." Stiles sighed, muttering, what sounded like over protective bastard, under his breath. "About two years after I met you, I met a guy named Matt. He-" "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to." "No, it's better for you to know now than find out later on." Derek nodded. "He was nice at first, he seemed pretty sweet, & after a couple months of being friends we started dating. We were only together two months when he convinced me to move in with him. Living with him was nice at first, but then he started to be verbally abusive. I dealt with it because I thought I loved him & he loved me. I told myself he'd never hurt me beyond using his words.. I was wrong. The first time he hit me, it was just a slap & he immediately snapped out of it. He apologized so many times & promised me it'd never happen again. I believed him & things were good for a while, well they were back normal anyways, with him only using his words. Then one day Allison & Ronnie were over, when Matt came home drunk off his ass. Matt didn't like when I talked or hung out with any my friends or family, so being drunk he flipped out. He started screaming & yelling & then he took a swing at me. While I was down he went after Ronnie, but I stopped him before he could touch her & told Allison to take Ronnie & run. Instead she put Ronnie in my room & joined me in beating the shit out of Matt. We locked him in the bathroom & Allison called my dad. That's why Ronnie didn't like you at first, she wasn't even three yet, but she remembers. She's scared that all my friends are gonna be like Matt." Derek brushed his nose against Stiles' cheek. "I am so sorry that happened. I would never hurt you or your family. Just thinking about someone hurting you or Ronnie makes me furious." "I know, I know you're not Matt. I feel different with you. I just want to take this slow, I don't want to rush anything." "We can go as slow as you'd like. I'm not gonna push you into anything." Stiles smirked. "That how I know you're different. You talk to me with so much sincerity & you.. You just have this look in your eye." Derek smiled. "It's because you deserve sincerity." "Ugh, you're such a sap. I don't know if I can survive with you being both smoking hot & a sap." Derek laughed. "I'll work on that." Stiles smiled at him, before he remembered something. He groaned, putting his head on Derek's shoulder. "What's wrong?" "I just remembered I have to go into work today." Derek put his head against Stiles'. "I guess I have to let you go, huh?" Stiles sat up, a hopeful look on his face. "Or you can come with me?" "Are you sure?" "Ya, I only have to go in for a catering thing. Then we can go out or something." Derek smiled & nodded. "Ok." Stiles smiled & pressed their lips back together, before jumping off the counter. "You get dressed & I'll put the dishes into the washer." "Stiles-" "Buh buh buh, go. I got this." Derek sighed, but obeyed. By the time he was showered & dressed, Stiles had the dishes done & was slipping his shoes on. "Am I going to get to see you work?" Stiles smirked at him. "Maybe, or maybe I'll make you sit in the dining area, or even my office." Derek smiled at him & entwined their fingers. "C'mon, lets go." Stiles dragged him outside & to the camaro. "Why don't we take your car?" "Because if my car's still here, I have an excuse to come back." Derek smiled at him as they got in the car. "I think your excuse is that your boyfriend lives here." Stiles beamed, his smile ridiculously big, making Derek squint in confusion. "What?" "You just called yourself my boyfriend." "Well that's what we are, right?" "Ya, I just didn't know if we were saying that word yet." Derek rolled his eyes, pulling out of the parking lot & driving to Stiles' restaurant. The ride was quiet & consisted of Stiles playing with Derek's fingers, the hand that wasn't on the wheel. When they pulled into the parking lot, Stiles pulled him out of the car & into the building. The place looked different during business hours. There were three waitresses going from table to table & a little bit of noise coming from the kitchen door. There were only a couple opened tables & Derek expected Stiles to make him sit at one, but instead he pulled Derek into the kitchen. Stiles went over to the chef that looked in charge at the moment. "Hey Greenberg." "Stilinski." "Why don't you take a break?" Greenberg smiled & nodded, putting the rag he had over his shoulder onto the counter. He looked at Derek & stage whispered, with a wink. "No ones allowed to see the boss work his magic." Derek chuckled, while Stiles rolled his eyes. "Take your break Greenberg." Greenberg laughed & walked out the back door. Stiles grabbed the rag Greenberg put down & put it over his shoulder. "So what's on the menu chef?" Stiles smiled. "There's a party that's going to be here in about an hour. They wanted my specialty dessert." Derek nodded. "Cool." Stiles got out a little bowl & put one soup of vanilla icecream into. On top of that he put crushed up chocolate graham crackers, caramel, hot fudge, & finally chocolate chips. He handed it to Derek. "Here, this one's for you." Derek took a bite, his eyes never leaving Stiles'. When it hit his tongue, he let out a moan. He didn't understand how something so simple could taste so good. "This is amazing." Stiles smiled. "It's the icecream. Homemade & fresh." Derek took another bite as Stiles got to work on making more. He had over fifty made in forty five minutes, all of them looking incredible. "All done & still time to make it out of here before the party gets here." "You're not gonna stay for the party?" "Normally I would. But Mrs Byers, who's eighty today, comes here every year for her birthday. Every year she makes me interact with her & her friends & for a bunch of old gals, they make a lot of sexual innuendos. So instead, I'm going to take my boyfriend out to the park & not get hit on by a bunch of old ladies." Derek laughed & put his hand out for Stiles to take. "Well then let's go."
