Derek picked up his phone, smiling when he saw it was Stiles. "Hey babe." "Hi. Can I ask you for a huge favor?" "Sure, name it." "Okay, Danny got called into work & no one else is free, so Ronnie doesn't have a sitter. Do you think you could possible just keep an eye on her for a few hours until I get out of here?" "Ya, that's fine." He could hear Stiles sigh in relief. "Oh my God, you're a life saver. Thank you." Derek smiled. "This is not for free, you owe me." "Okay, what do you want?" "I just got some new movies & watching them alone just doesn't feel right." Stiles laughed. "Well I don't know, that sounds like a lot of work." "I'll make it worth your while." He could hear Stiles hum. "Well since you're doing me a favor, I guess I have to. When?" "Tonight?" "Sounds good." "Okay, I guess I'll see you later then." "Alright, bye." "Bye." Derek smiled as he hung up. It was not even a minute later when there was a knock at his door. Derek raised an eyebrow, that was fast. He answered the door & Ronnie went tumbling past him, to the living room. He watched as she sat down on the floor, dumping the contents of a bag next to her. Lydia sighed. "Ronnie, we haven't been here five seconds & you're making a mess." Ronnie just waved her off, making Derek smile. "She's fine, all messes are cleanable." Lydia smirked. "Thanks for watching her." "Sure, anytime." Lydia laughed. "If I were you, I'd see how today goes before putting that out there." Derek smiled. "Offer still holds." She smiled, kissing his cheek. "Alright, well thanks again. I have to get to work. Bye Ronnie." Ronnie didn't look up from her toys, but she waved. "Bye mommy." Lydia smiled, leaving. Derek closed the door, moving to sit on the couch in front of Ronnie. She didn't even acknowledge his presence, very busy with her dolls. Derek watched for a minute, before flipping the TV on. That must've caught her attention, because she looked up. She got up, moving to sit by Derek. She put her head on his chest, with her knees thrown over his leg. Derek just stared for a second, before putting his arm around her. He wasn't used to people making contact with him outside his close family. Now he has a boyfriend & his boyfriend's family, who were very much the hugging type. It was.. new, but not bad. They watched a couple episodes of Doctor Who like that, cuddled together. It wasn't until the fourth episode that he noticed she was asleep. Derek smiled, rubbing her back a little. When Ronnie woke up it was an hour or two later & Derek was asleep. She stared at his face. He wasn't as scratchy as before, but he still had some scratchiness on his face. He was snoring, making Ronnie scrunch her nose up. Ronnie got up, moving so she was standing on his knees. She put her hands on his shoulders, shaking him a little. "Derek." Derek didn't wake up. "Derek.. Uncle Derek!" Derek sat up, just barely catching Ronnie before she fell off his lap. "God Ron, you scared me.. What'd you just call me?" Ronnie tilted her head. "Uncle Derek, why?" "No reason, just.." Derek smiled a little. "Nothing. What's up?" "I'm hungry." Derek stood, pulling her up with him. "Okay, what do you want? I could make you a sandwich or macn'cheese?" She hummed. "What kind of sandwich?" Derek set her on the counter, looking through the fridge. "I've got turkey & roast beef." "Turkey please." Derek nodded, pulling everything he'd need to make a sandwich out & setting it next to her on the counter. "Do you want lettuce or tomatoes?" Her nose scrunched up. "No, thank you." Derek smiled, poking her nose. "Your face will get stuck like that." She scoffed. "Ya right." Derek smiled in amusement. "That's what my mom used to tell me & she was a very honest woman." Ronnie seemed to turn this over in her head as Derek got started on the sandwiches. He made two, one with lettuce & one without. "There you go munchkin." "Thank you." "You're welcome." Derek picked her up again & set her in the chair at the table & put her plate in front of her, sitting down across from her. "Where is your mom?" Derek took a bite of his sandwich, thinking of an appropriate answer for a five year old. His gut reaction was to say she went to heaven, but then he'd probably have to explain what heaven was. He decided Ronnie was a smart girl though. "She passed away a long time ago." "Oh.. I've never known anybody who died. Well my grandmas did, but I never met them. So I don't think it counts." Derek smiled a little, she was smart. "My grandad said I would've like my grandma Victoria." "Well your pappy is a smart man." "No not my pappy, my grandad Chris." "You have two grandpa's?" Ronnie nodded. "Ya pappy is mommy's dad & grandad is moma's dad. He doesn't come to family dinner very often though, that's why you don't know him. Moma said he eats dinner with his friend Peter." Derek squinted. Peter & Chris. There was no possible way it was the same Peter & Chris, that's too weird. Isaac & Scott was weird enough, Peter & Chris would be ridiculous. Derek shook his head, taking another bite of his sandwich, finishing it off. "So what do you normally do after lunch?" She shrugged, also finishing her sandwich. "We could color?" Derek wasn't opposed to doing that, but he was opposed to missing his daily run. "Uh how about we go on a walk?" "To where?" "Well there's a gas station down the road, I could buy you an icecream?" She smiled, getting up. "Let's go!" Derek smiled, picking her up & sitting her in front of the TV. "You sit here for a minute, I'll be right back." "Okay." Derek walked to his room & changed his jeans out for a pair of basketball shorts, also putting on some more deodorant. He grabbed his phone & wallet, sticking them in his pocket. When he was ready, he walked back to the living room. Ronnie hadn't moved from where Derek put her, but she looked up when he walked out of his room. "Are we leaving now?" Derek smiled, putting his hand out for her. "Ya, c'mon." She smiled, getting up & grabbing Derek's hand. They walked out of the apartment, going down the stairs. "Why don't you get on my back & I can get us there faster?" She nodded & Derek lifted her up so she was on his back. "You good?" "Ya." Derek nodded. He started on a slow pace, running his usual route. It was closer towards the end of his route when the gas station came into view. "Icecream!" Derek chuckled. He put her down, grabbing her hand again. He bought two water bottles & let Ronnie pick out an icecream from the freezer. "Thank you uncle Derek." Derek smiled. "It was my pleasure munchkin." They walked back, Ronnie on her own feet. Ronnie was holding Derek's hand with one hand & her ice cream cone with the other. They were halfway back to the apartment when there was a honk from behind them. They turned, seeing the blue jeep pull up next to them. Stiles rolled the window down, smiling at them. "Get in, I'm kidnapping both of you." "Uncle Stiles!" Stiles laughed, opening the door from the inside for her. Derek helped her into the back seat, before getting in himself. Stiles smiled, leaning in to give Derek a kiss. Derek smiled too, kissing him back. He could hear Ronnie make a noise of disgust, making him laugh & pull back. Stiles turned around in his seat, giving Ronnie a kiss attack. Ronnie squealed, laughing. Derek smiled as Stiles turned back around, driving towards Derek's apartment. "What were you two doing walking on the side of the road like a bunch of hitch hikers?" "Uncle Derek took me for icecream!" She held up her cone, which was mostly all over her face by now. Stiles smiled at Derek. "You didn't have to take her for icecream." "Well I had to get my run in somehow." Stiles laughed. "Nice play." Derek smirked. "I try." Stiles put the jeep in park as he pulled up in front of Derek's apartment. Derek helped Ronnie out of the back, careful to keep the chocolate mess away from him. They both took one of her hands, swinging her over the sidewalk curb. She giggled, kicking her legs up. Stiles smiled at Derek, a fond look in his eye. Derek blushed, looking away. The door across from Derek's opened, Boyd walking out. "Boyd!" Boyd looked at Ronnie, smiling. "Hey red." She hugged his leg, him smiling & patting her back. "What are you doing here?" He smirked, pointing at his door. "I live here." "You live across from uncle Derek?" Boyd nodded. She turned to Derek, giving him an accusing look. "Why didn't you tell me that?" Derek looked at Stiles for help, but his traitorous boyfriend just smiled at him. "Uh.. it didn't come up." She rolled her eyes, turning back to Boyd. "Can you stay & play with us?" "I'm actually on my way to work, but maybe next time." She sighed, nodding. "Okay." Boyd leaned in, stage whispering. "If you go in there & ask her really nicely, I'm sure Erica will play with you." "Really?" "As long as it's okay with your uncles." Ronnie turned to them, giving them her iconic puppy dog eyes. Derek looked to Stiles, who shrugged. "I don't see why not." She cheered & Boyd opened the door for her. She went running inside, making Boyd smirk. He turned to Derek & Stiles, smiling. "That should give you a couple hours alone." Stiles blushed, burying his face in Derek's shoulder. Derek laughed, putting his arm around Stiles. "Thanks Boyd." Boyd nodded, walking down the stairs. Derek unlocked his door, letting them in. "I got Man of Steel & the Veronica Mars movie, which do you prefer?" Stiles smiled, kissing him. "Either is fine." Derek smiled too, wrapping his arms around Stiles waist, picking him up. Stiles laughed, kissing him again. Derek licked at Stiles' bottom lip, the younger opening his mouth for him. Stiles licked inside Derek's mouth, making Derek moan. Derek set Stiles on the couch, making him whine. "Hey, come back here." Derek smirked. "I'm putting the movie in." Stiles groaned, laying back. Derek slipped Veronica Mars into the player & sat next to Stiles, who was still lying down. Stiles made grabby hands for him, making him laugh. "What?" "Come here." Derek rolled his eyes, moving. Stiles moved them so he was lying on his stomach on Derek's chest, with his arms around Derek's neck. Derek smiled, kissing Stiles' head. Stiles hummed, his eyes closing on their own accord.
