Chapter 3: The News

Many of you all know is that Life and Death made a deal of conceiving a child. Noted that Death isn't entirely on board with being a father now being as old as 4.54 billion years old. He believes that watching and taking care of an infant is a waste of time. Life thinks that Death is frightened and shy of being a father, Life believed it was her destiny to have a child. Over the millions of years of being together they decided it was time. To have a baby. "Are you sure about this?" asked Death he wanted to make Life happy no matter what. Life looked up at him and spoke "Yes! Why do you think you are not able to be a father. Are you afraid of what will happen?" Death looked at her shocked that she had said that to him. Death almost started to burn up inside he thought angrily that his own partner thought he was a pathetic wimp. Life noticed the anger in his eyes. She then hugged him around his neck passionately and whispered in his ear "It's ok I know." Death began to feel something in his chest something beating he thought it was another burp coming, then he thought he would never feel it ever again but he did he felt his heart beating. "no." he whispered. Life looked shocked and pushed him away she started to tear up at him not realizing the fact that he still had feeling in his heart "What do you mean no!" Life felt heart broken by her offer of passion. "No wait honey-" Death grabbed her hand and put it on his chest she then felt the heart. "See." He said. Death then felt the warmth of her hand and realized that his cheeks were suddenly rosy. Life looked up at him and began to giggle at the sight of his red face "I don't believe it... you look embarrassed." Death then said "I am, I never felt like this it's, it's weird" Life then said "It's Love." Death leaned in to kiss her she let him he then spun her around off her feet and carried her to a secret location to have a good time. Luckily in the location that they were at in Purgatory, there were no other spirits floating around and watching. The next day Life was pregnant. Meanwhile at the Schnicket's place the twin's were tired and hungry after working at the farm for a couple of hours. "Mom, could we have tacos?" asked Jasmine she was sore after carrying 7 pounds of apples and 37 baskets total. Jacob had to pick off the apples from the trees the only thing was he was afraid of heights. He was still shaking and couldn't look down even from his feet when they got home. "Sure honey you two earned it... but um where are the two ghost thingies?" Emily wanted to make sure they weren't just snooping around the house, she was still somewhat frightened by Life and Death. Johnathan looked out the window and said "Honey, the two ghost thingies are called spirits." He then smirked at his wife and grabbed her hand and started to dance while humming. "Well whatever I just don't want them to be around the house while we are gone." she then did a dip while John laughed. "You two are weird have you been drinking?" asked Jacob. The two parents laughed "No we are just having fun."  All of a sudden they heard a loud belch coming from their living room. They all went to investigate and saw the two spirits sitting down on their sectional couch and Death was licking the crumbs from the pan from an apple pie. "Well hello-" Death said while getting up "We heard you guys but we didn't want to scare you again. Also sorry but I ate your apple pie, I couldn't help it." Death gave the apple pie pan to Emily and scoffed thinking how rude it was to eat a dessert without saying he was going to. They all turned their heads at Life who was quiet she had a long cloak on they thought she was cold and Death smiled at them and said "Ladies and gentlemen we have some news." He grabbed Life's hand and she released the cloak showing a pregnant belly. "What, when, how?" said Johnathan in shock "We just met you two yesterday and you were well... less round." said Emily she went towards Life to have a better look, in all Life looked to be 7 months pregnant. Death smiled and grabbed Life from the hips and began to twirl Life up into the air as well as being careful in order not to hurt his unborn child. Jacob and Jasmine looked in awe thinking it would be cool to have a baby spirit in their lives. "Do you two know what gender it is?" asked Jacob hoping it is a boy. Life and Death looked at each other they never thought of that part. "We don't know we will just have to wait and see." said Life she rubbed her stomach and then felt the sudden urge to eat. The whole family heard her tummy rumble, Life blushed of embarrassment it was out of the ordinary for her to eat a substance of nutrients. Death looked at her and smiled then said "Anything you desire Madame?" Life thought for a second and then drooled over the thought of an apple. She then leaned in to whisper in Death's ear "An apple." Death went into his pouch full of apples and let her have one. Life smiled at his generosity thinking it was really sweet of him to let go of something he desires most for satisfaction. Suddenly there came a ring at the door "Who could that be?" said Johnathan. Jacob ran to the door while saying "Ah crap I forgot!" Without thinking Jacob grabbed the door and opened it his parents tried grabbing him before the ruckus started. "Hello Jerry." said Jacob "Why hello dear sir, fine weather we are having?"  Jerry was holding a deck of cards and then put them in his pocket."Yes, indeed." They both chuckled to the stupidness of their proper conversation. Realizing that Life and Death were sitting in the living room and laying on the couch. "Hey... could you wait out here for a second?" Asked Jacob hoping for an answer of a yes. "Sure it's not like I came out here for no reason. Move." Jerry said sarcastically. He pushed Jacob aside, Jerry didn't want to wait for him as a matter of fact he wasn't supposed to be at their house. "So do you have anything to eat I haven't eaten since last night." Jacob then ran in front of Jerry but it was too late Jerry saw the pouch of apples floating in the air Johnathan and Emily tried to get his hand away from the pouch. But Jerry was too fast "What is this-" He touched it then very sudden he whispered "oh" and began to scream so loud everyones eardrums seemed to blow up. "Holy crap, you are annoying! Oh my God you scream like a little girl." said Death he was close to kill Jerry because of his outburst. Life sat up and gave Death the apple core she was eating she floated towards Jerry he of course took steps back in fear and whimpering like a dog did. Jacob and Jasmine went over to him and grabbed his shoulder's to keep him from falling backwards. "Young man we are not here to hurt you we are, in circumstances, to watch this family for the freedom of boredom isn't that right honey?" She asked Death who was now gobbling an apple "Indeed." Death said through his teeth. Life was trying to calm Jerry down but Jasmine stepped in. "Jerry, umm... so this is Life and that one is Death." Jerry looked at one and then another he noticed one thing about them. They were completely opposite. "Hey... why is she pregnant?" Life blushed and said "What do you think?" Jerry then gasped "You two are gonna have an angel/demon baby?" Death grew furious "Okay listen mortal I am not an angel or a demon we are life and death and nothing else. Got it?" There was a long pause Death's skull eyes seemed to grow more red than ever. Jerry luckily got the hint "Yeah sorry." Death turned around and snorted. He hated being called something he was not, a liar, a cheat, a pathetic immortal and worst of all a demon. Life went over to him knowing his pain. They both passionatley kissed. "Uh Jerry honey I heard you didn't get anything to eat?" said Emily. Jerry's stomach growled at the thought of food. "Yes if you don't mind." Emily smiled and walked to the kitchen "What do you want a sandwich, spaghetti, taco's?" Jerry thought for a minute he thought that spaghetti would take too long and so a taco. He decided upon a sandwich. "Sandwich please." He said in pure delight. "Mom what about our food?" asked Jasmine, Jacob also nodded in agreement. "Jerry is first he is our guest." said Johnathan he then patted the kids shoulders and said "Go talk to your friend see if he has a new joke or a magic trick." John then winked at his son and daughter they ran to the table and Jacob asked "So got anything new?" Jerry cleared his throat and closed his eyes "It is a riddle so pay attention. Imagine if you are in a house with no doors or windows. How do you get out?" Jacob thought for a minute "Easy just make a hole underground." Jerry shook his head Jasmine answered next "Teleport?" she wasn't very good at riddles. "Nope." said Jerry with a smug smile on his face. "Well what is it?" asked Jasmine now tugging on Jerry's sleeve. "Stop imagining." Jacob and Jasmine groaned at the thought of the riddle being so dumb. Then the sandwiches and tacos were done. After they ate, told jokes and eventually went onto the topic of a vacuum cleaner they heard a painful scream. They ran and saw that Life's water broke. Emily said "Kids get out! This can't be seen. Johnathan grab me some towels. Life relax and breathe." Life then tried that but instead groaned in pain. Death was by her side panicking a little and grabbed her hand and said "Shhh everything is gonna be alright." Life crushed his hand of course Death felt pain by her strength and started to panic even more. The baby was coming!
