JUST OUTSIDE OF new tristram stands a woman; her features strong and sharp, her brows furrowed and nose scrunched up. the air reeked of death, it wasn't something new for her, but she'll never get used to it.

her thin body held tight fitted clothing, her broad shoulders carried her shield while her sword was placed comfortably in its sheath at her right.

the green eyed woman knew she made it to new tristram when she spotted people fighting the dead in front of a large wooden gate. she unsheathed her sword with her left hand, her shield finding its place in her right hand soon after. she quickly ran to the men, helping them dispose of their three opponents. she placed her shield back where is belonged, her sword still in her left hand.

"i am elpis, i come seeking the fallen star." her voice was low and rough. the man who seemed to be in charge furrowed his brows, giving her a small smile.

"it fell in the old cathedral. there was only one survivor, leah. you should speak with her." his voice wasn't high nor was it low, his accent clear as day.

before elpis could ask where this leah is, a man yelled out; "captain rumford, more dead are coming!"

"we can't open the gates until we drive them back!" 'captain rumford' spoke quickly, pushing past the brunette woman who grunted in surprise.

elpis pushed some fallen hair from her face, not bothering to grab her shield before running at the closest threat. she pushed her sword up before quickly bringing it down, the 'zombie' falling almost in synch with the weapon. she turned her head, the sword following her movements, slicing through the neck of a bigger undead. she smirked, almost feeling her blood pump through her veins.

she noticed three of the monsters quickly walking towards her, her smirk got wider the closer they got. her sword cut through one of their stomachs, quickly finding its way through the skull of the second before slicing off the thirds head.

this went on for a few more minutes before nearly three dozen of the monsters laid dead on the floor once again. the captain panted as he sheathed his sword, elpis doing the same.

"open the gates!" he walked with elpis, who seemed to be completely fine, like she didn't just fight a mini army of the dead two minutes ago. "where did you learn to fight like that?" elpis let out a breath, closing her eyes for a few moments.

"my father taught me to fight at a young age. after he died, my brother took his place as my teacher. he's the greatest warrior i know." it wasn't a lie, but not the full truth. she said enough to keep him satisfied.

"is he still alive?" elpis laughed at this, nodding her head. "yes, he is still alive. he lives in caldeum with our mother and his fiancé." rumford nodded, his face slightly pink.

"well, you'll fine leah at the slaughtered calf inn." elpis raised her eyebrows at the name, walking towards the direction he pointed in.

she walked past what seemed to be a preacher, shouting about the END OF THE WORLD.
