I wake up in an unfamiliar place. I scream loudly. I hear someone burst through the door.
"Is everything okay?" A female voice asks. I nod. I look at the clock and see its 6:00. I get up and grab some clothes.
The female, who I soon realize is Sadie, walks out and lets me change. I grab a 5 Second of Summer T-shirt and some black jeans. I change into them and throw on a blue hoodie.
I grab my backpack for school. I walk out into the kitchen.
"Hi." Sadie says. I wave at her.
" I made eggs and bacon. " She says pointing at the table. I nod and sit down.
"Tank you." I say. She nods.
(Thank you.)
I dig into the food. I haven't eaten like this in years. I sigh when I'm done and lean back into the chair.
"C'mon. You gotta get to school." She says. I nod and grab my stuff. I start walking out the door. She taps my shoulder.
" I'll drive you. " She says. I walk to her car and get in the passenger's seat. She gets in and turns the ignition on. She pulls out of the driveway.
I look out the window as she drives. I hum to the song on the radio.
"So come home right after school. There are some people who are looking at adopting you." She says when we stop at the red light.
"A-already?" I ask. She nods keeping her eyes on the road.
Who would want me? I sigh as she pulls up to the school. I get out and wave to her.
I walk up to the doors and go to my locker. It is covered in bad words. In the middle they wrote Abused. I sighed and put my stuff away.
I walk to my first class. My friends are waiting at the door.
"Hope!" Kai yells and engulfs me in a hug. I put on a smile.
" Hi Kai. " I say. He looks at me. I blush slightly. I haven't ever said his name before.
I walk in the classroom. I sit in the back and they all sit beside me. The bell rings and the class goes quiet. The teacher walks in.
"You may all do whatever you want today. We have an assembly in last period." He says waving us off.
Me and my friends sit in the corner of the classroom.
"So-" Rain starts. But Meadow quickly interrupts her.
"Who's your foster parents?" She asks. I sigh.
" Sadie. " I say. They gasp.
"But she aid someone looking at opting" I say.
(But she said someone is looking at adopting me.)
"Thats great!" Kai says. Valley smiles at me and ruffles my hair.
I nod and look at Chip. He's sitting there not really looking at anyone. He looks up and sees me.
"I have to go to the bathroom. I'll be back." He states and leaves the class. A few minutes later I make an excuse and follow him. I hear him in the boys bathroom. I try to open the door but it is locked.
I knock on the door. He doesn't unlock it. He stays silent. I kick the door open. I see him on the ground under the sinks. I close the door and lock it to the best of my ability.
"Chip what's wrong?" I ask sitting by him. Tears are streaming from his eyes and he covers his hands with his sleeves.
" N-no. I ca-can't. " He says. He panics and looks around. I grab one of his hands.
"Please tell me." I say quietly. He closes his eyes and breathes in and out a couple of times.
"I-i think I'm..." He starts. I tilt my head. I wave my hand to say ' go on' . He tries again.
"Ithinkimgay." He stutters. I smile. He takes that as a bad thing and scoots away.
" I not mave. Is tine Chip. " I say.
(I'm not mad. It's fine Chip)
He looks at me skeptically and then suddenly turns to the door. Kai and the girls walk in.
"H-how much d-did you hear?" Chip asks.
" Everything. " Valley replies casually. Chip starts shaking. I pull his small frame onto my lap.
"Shhh. Is okay." I whisper to him.
(Ssshhh. It's okay)
The others sit down beside me and wait quietly for Chip to calm down. After a few minutes Chip sniffles softly.
"You g-guys aren't m-mad?" He asks looking down at his sleeves.
" of course not! " "how could we!" " youre still amazing! " "we like you the way you are dude!"
I smile at their replies. Chip looks up to see the four smiling faces of our friends. He sighs contentedly.
The bell rings suddenly and Chip jumps out of my lap. His eyes widen in realisation.
"Valley, Meadow, Rain, Hope! You guys are in a boy's bathroom and people are coming!" He screeches running out. I laugh and run after him.
The girls follow me and Chip to an empty classroom. We hang out there for a while until last period.
We walk to the assembly and sit down in the bleachers next to each other. We can lean back on the wall because we sit at the top.
I watch as the people do games and other weird stuff on the gym floor. I look over at Chip to see him concentrating really hard on something on the gym floor.
I follow his gaze to see a boy. He has blonde hair and green eyes. He looks over at Chip and smirk knowingly. Chip's face turns tomato red. I giggle.
Chip turns over to me. I point at the guy from earlier. Chip blushes even more. The assembly goes on and when it's over Chip runs down to the guy.
"Hey Jack." He says hugging the guy, now known as Jack.
" Hey Chip! " he exclaims excitedly holding Chip. I smile as I walk out the door. He'll text me later. I walk back to Sadie's house. She wont be off work until three. I go to the bathroom and shower quickly. I throw on some nice clothes and sir on my bed.
I hear the front door open a few minutes later. I get up and go to the living room. Sadie stands there twirling the car keys in her hand.
We walk out side and get in the car. The ride isn't too long, only about ten minutes. We get out at a big building. It says Adoption Center in bold letters on top.
We walk in and I sit down on a chair while Sadie goes and talks to the receptionist. I hum a tune and watch the people outside the window.
Sadie snaps me out of my trance. I stand up and follow her a door. It opens up and she walks in it. I follow her in. She presses a button on the wall and suddenly the doors close.
I start to panic as the thing starts moving up. I look over at Sadie and see she's very calm. I calm down a bit but then it stops. The doors slide open again and she walks out.
I follow her on shaky legs. What was that thing? That was crazy. We walk to a door and it opens into a room this time.
It has a glass wall on one side and three green walls. The table in the middle has two men sitting at it.
Sadie motions to go sit over there so I sit down. She walks out of the room leaving me with what I'm hoping will be my future parents.
