We sit there in silence for a minute. It's comfortable silence and I look over the two men. One has blonde hair and green eyes. He seems taller than the other man. The other looks shorter and has brown hair and brown eyes.
The blonde haired man sticks his hand out.
"I'm Simon." He states. I shake his hand.
" I Hope," I reply.
(I'm Hope)
I thought that they would think it was odd that I couldn't speak right yet, but they didn't seem to mind.
The other man introduces himself as Andy. We talk about everything, from our favorite food to our favorite memories. I stutter through a lot of it and have some difficulty talking but I enjoy talking to them. I really like them. I just hope they like me too.
Mindy an the receptionist from earlier walk in. Mindy smiles at us and sits down at the head of the table and the receptionist stands beside her.
"So Andy and Simon. Do you like her?" The receptionist asks bluntly and to the point. Andy frowns at her.
" She's awesome! " Andy says. Simon chuckles at him.
" She's really smart and kind. I think it would be amazing to adopt her, if she would have of of course, " Simon says.
The receptionist turns to me. I grin. They want me!
"I wat them to be my parents." I say.
(I want them to be my parents)
Mindy hands Andy and Simon some papers to sign and walks out with the receptionist right behind her. They start signing the papers. I get up and walk around the room. I look out the glass wall at all the people walking by in the streets below. I sit by the window.
"Hey Simon?" I ask. He looks up from the paper work.
" Ya? " He replies.
"What is that thing we used to get up here?" I ask. Andy stops writing and looks at me too.
" An elevator? " Andy says confused. I tilt my head and think.
"Is that what it's called?" I ask. They both nod and share a glance. They go back to their paper work and I stare out the window for a while. I start singing Pretending.
In this masquerade, she can't feel the pain
Cover up her heart with a little paint
While he's pulling out a flask to hide it all away, there's nothing left to say
He knows that they're drowning
She hopes that, there's still something left
Let go now, cuz he's leaving
But she'd be fine pretending things were alright
Even while it's ending keep it inside
She can feel them bending, all their love is pending
So what is she defending
Even when she says she'll open her eyes
All her words are empty when she denies
That she can feel them bending, all their love is pending, so what is she defending
But she'd be fine pretending
Andy and Simon sit next me. I watch a man and woman with their child walking into a park nearby. Simon rubs my back. I relax a bit.
"We can go home now if you'd like," Andy says after a few minutes. I nod. We walk out the door and go down the elevator. The receptionist hands me a suitcase with all my stuff in it.
Andy and Simon sign out and we walk out to a car. It's a truck of some sort. Simon gets in the front seat and Andy helps me put my suitcase in the bed before jumping in the passenger seat. I get in the back and buckle my seat belt.
Simon starts the truck and he drives off. I look out the window as we drive by the park. There are kids there with their parents sitting on benches watching them and talking to other parents.
I lean my head back on the seat and close my eyes. The truck stops a few minutes later and I open my eyes. A two story house stands in front of us.
I get out of the truck and grab my suitcase. I walk up to the front door and Andy unlocks it. They walk in and I follow them upstairs.
"This will be your room," Simon says. I walk in. The whole thing is a light yellow with a desk and dresser in one corner. A queen sized bed rests on the other wall with a night table. I turn around and grin.
I run over to them and engulf them in a hug.
"Thank you!" I exclaim. I put my suitcase down on the bed and open it. I take out my phone charger and plug my phone in. I put my two sets of clothes away. I sit down on the bed watching Simon and Andy stare at me confused.
"Is that all you have?" Andy asks. I nod. Simon sighs.
"We're going shopping this weekend then," Andy says. Simon groans. I smile at the couple.
"Let's go have dinner," Simon says. We walk out of my new room and back to the car. They drive up to a restaurant and park. We get out and walk in.
I look up at the food board and then look back down. They came here to get themselves food, not me.
"So what do you want to eat?" Andy asks. I look up.
" I am owed to ate? " I ask confused. Simon looks at me.
(I'm allowed to eat?)
"Of course. Now what would you like?" Simon asks. I look up at the food board. I scan the options quickly and choose a burger and fries.
I point at it to avoid any further embarrassment. Andy nods and tells the cashier our order. Simon goes and sits at a table. I sit across from him.
Andy comes over to us with some ketchup packets and salt. He sits down beside Simon. I look out the window and see all the people walking by. I smile.
"ANDY!" a voice yells from the kitchen. I get up and go to the counter to get the food. Suddenly I'm pushed to the ground. I look up. Oh no.
