You were nervous. The Volturi was approaching the group quickly, making the distance in the meadow narrower by the second, and fear started coursing through your veins. Benjamin, your brother, held onto your hand, squeezing it gently. "Everything will be alright, (Y/N). I promise." He said softly so only you could hear it. You nodded your head, wanting to believe him. You bit your lip, trying to contain the fear inside you. You knew standing up against the Volturi was the right thing to do, but knowing you were doing the right thing didn't make it any less frightening, and it surely didn't confirm if it was worth dying for.
The confrontation began when Carlisle stepped forward, trying to convince Aro that Renesmee was not an immortal child, but a hybrid. Truth be told, you weren't paying much attention, you simply wanted this to be over and go home, back to Egypt. However, your attention was soon drawn back when Kate and Tanya were shouting Irina's name. Your eyes snapped back towards the mass of black cloaks, only to see a fire rising up. Irina's arms and head had been removed and Caius had set her ablaze.
It frightened you to such an extent that you no longer felt like you were in control of yourself. On a whim you used your gift of water control and moved the snow around Irina to cease the fire that was licking away at her skin. Gasps could be heard from both sides of the field. Benjamin pulled you behind him quickly, trying to shield you from any harm, frightened of what might happen to you now that you had interfered with the Volturi's verdict. Caius red eyes seemed to be ablaze, filled with rage.
"I believe this was (Y/N)'s work, if I am not mistaken." Aro said turning his full attention on you now, his red eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. You bit your lip even harder. Why did you have to play the hero now? "It was on a whim. Her screams frightened me and my body acted on its own. I swear." You said looking up for the first time since Irina's screams had ceased. You looked at the tallest and largest vampire with fear in your red eyes. The one who had ripped off Irina's head in one swift motion. A gasp escaped both your lips as your red eyes met his burgundy ones. A warm feeling spread through your body and gravity seemed to pull you towards him. His large form no longer seemed frightening, yet it seemed welcoming. A place where you could nestle yourself in, a place where you would be safe until the end of time.
"Felix?" Aro asked, confused on what was happening with one of his most loyal guard. Felix didn't say anything. He simply removed his leather glove and held his hand out for Aro, never once letting his eyes leave your form, afraid you might disappear if he did. Aro eagerly took Felix hand in his and read his mind, a small chuckle escaping his lips, placing his attention back on you. "How wonderful." Aro exclaimed in excitement. A small frown made its way on your face. "Don't worry my dear Felix. I couldn't dream of hurting our dear (Y/N)." Aro said patting Felix' hand before releasing it completely. Felix put his glove back on, eyes still glued on you.
"What is the meaning of this, brother?" Caius asked, still furious that Irina had been saved, for now. "My dear (Y/N), you want to play the hero?" Aro said, completely ignoring Caius. You bit your lip, finally breaking your gaze with Felix to look directly at Aro. It never was your intention to be the hero in this tale. All you wanted was to go home, with your family. But clearly fate had a different destiny for you. "I fully understand your intentions, my dear. None of us want any more bloodshed than necessary. So I have a proposition for you. Join us, and I promise no harm will come to our dear Irina nor your friends and family." Aro said as he motioned for his guards to put Irina back together. "NO!" Benjamin and Amun shouted at the same time, as Benjamin pulled you closer to his back, shielding you from the harm. Felix growled, not liking the way Benjamin pulled you away from him. He wanted his mate and he wanted her now. No matter how much force was needed.
"It's alright. Benjamin, you said it so yourself. You will do the right thing and so will I. It is time for me to go my own way. Let me go brother" You said as you gently placed your hand on his arm, assuring him it will be alright. You kissed his cheek before making your way towards the Volturi, only to be pulled into a tight embrace by Tanya and Kate. "Thank you for saving our sister." Tanya whispered before releasing you. You gave her the bravest smile you could pull, patting her arm gently. You turned around and made your way once more towards the Volturi. Your coven behind you was restless, not trusting Aro one bit. Two lower guards made their way to grab your arms, but a growl from Felix stopped them dead in their tracks. Felix walked towards you and pulled you close in his embrace, shielding you from everyone else. His scent pierced through your nose and covering your completely in it, calming you down almost immediately.
Irina was let go and she ran quickly towards her sisters, apologising the entire time. "Let's go home, amore mio." Felix whispered in your ear before picking you up and carrying you towards your new home.
