"To the world." I smiled and clinked the champagne glass against Crowley's own. I opened my mouth to say something to Crowley but was caught off by the slow jazz music changing into slow piano. The pianist called everyone over to dance through his microphone. All around us, couples started to get up, talking and excited. I even saw a woman walk with a young girl which must have been her daughter, them both laughing and smiling. I could feel happiness and love radiating from all around me. I even myself started to get excited and turned towards Crowley to ask him if he wanted to dance to the slow song. "Would you like to dance with me, dear?" I asked him and took his hand from under the table and in one swift move made him stand up with me so fast that his chair nearly fell. Crowley stiffened up and frantically looked at the people sitting all around us.
"I-I..." He mumbled. With a glance at me, he sat back down and sipped on his glass of wine.
"Is everything alright?" I ask concern in my voice, sitting back down and gripping his hand tightly.
"Don't you remember the last time we danced?" He fidgeted with his coat uncomfortably. "So many people were looking, and it felt like I would suffocate in their glares." With a stab in my heart, I remember that Crowley can sense every single bad emotion so while I don't know, he feels exactly when somebody doesn't like us.
"Oh, why did you not tell me? I would have listened to you if dancing in front of them made you uncomfortable." I rested my hand on his shoulder.
"It's just that I didn't want to tell you." He looked away timidly. "And you were having so much fun as well." I kneeled towards him and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek.
"Crowley, I told you, you have to care for yourself as well. I'll understand if you don't want to do something or it makes you feel bad. I care for you a lot, and I don't want any stress on you." I explained caringly, making him slightly flustered. I couldn't help but chuckle at that. Oh that idiot deserves so much love. Before I could continue, he called over a passing waiter and asked for the check. Before I knew why he decided to leave so quickly, the check was already paid and we were walking outside towards my bookshop, covered in warm coats (especially Crowley) from the cold rain.
We ran back inside and I slammed the door shut which was hard to do from the increasing wind. I took off my coat and walked towards the fire place, lighting a fire to warm up the room. Before I could relax in front of the hot flames, a cough sounded from behind me. I turned back to see Crowley having his hand held out towards me while his face was dusted with pink.
"I still didn't give you that dance." He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. I smiled lovingly and walked over to him.
"Well don't expect much from me, I'm still not used to any other types of dancing accept the gavotte."
"Well I'm bad at dancing as well," He chuckled. "But for me everything about you is perfect." He looked away bashfully from the compliment he gave me. I felt myself grin widely.
"Guess both of us will have to try not to step on each others toes." I chuckled. We stood in the middle of the bookshop, waiting for something to happen. Crowley quickly rushed off to put on some music, even stumbling slightly over his feet. He pressed some buttons and turned on the radio. "And now, Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy by the one and only queen!" A man's voice exclaimed from the radio. I blushed from realizing we will be dancing to a love song.
"Angel?" He took me out of my thoughts. I looked at Crowley who had his hand in front of him, waiting for me to take it. I smiled and walked closer to Crowley.
"Oh dear, I'll never understand why you hide your beautiful eyes in my presence." He froze from what I said and his mouth hung slightly in shock. I lifted up my hands and took off his glasses, putting them carefully on a coffee table next to us. I examined his yellow snake eyes that shine from the light emitting lamp. I intertwined my fingers with his and placed my hand on his shoulder while his hand went to my hip. Queens voice was heard from the side of the room, and clumsily but steadily, we moved back and forth. Suddenly, I stepped on Crowley's foot, making him stop and hiss slightly in pain. "Oh no, I'm so sorry, Crowley." I gasped quietly.
"It's alright, Angel. It doesn't even hurt anymore." He waved my worry away and again took my hand in his. Soon the first chorus arrived, our pace getting faster as well. I smiled at Crowley who had a smirk on his face. Before I could ask him about it, he pushed me away and twirled me around. I giggled happily before I also pushed Crowley away and pulled him back in, him barely having any time to react. "Wow, this is way better than I expected!" I exclaimed over the music. As I said that, Crowley stepped on my foot like I did on his, making me wince slightly but continue to dance. Then the slow bridge of the song came and with us slightly panting, we slowed down and danced slowly.
"Um, dear." Crowley hummed in response. "Is there anything else bothering you? It's just I don't want something like that happening again to you." I said concerned.
"Oh, Angel, you're still thinking about that? Don't worry about it, it's just that one time." I examined his face closely for any deceit but he was speaking the truth. I sighed.
"Alright, dear." I rested my head on his chest and embraced him. "I just want you to know you can tell me anything." I felt him stiffen up against my touch but a moment later give it back. With a chuckle from Crowley and a swift move, he again twirled me around and right when the song ended he dipped me down and held me, looking down at me. He grinned happily down at me and I returned a grin back. But I realised and thought about how such a slim body could hold my slightly chubby one. As I expected, his hands started to shake and with one startled shout he let go of me and we fell onto the floor with a loud bang. I grumbled from the slight but noticeable pain and rubbed the back of my head. I felt shuffling on top of me and Crowley turned around onto his belly, resting his head on my chest.
"Sorry about that." He said through giggles. I chuckled as well.
"Crowley, can you please get off me?" I asked him.
"Oh, right." He mumbled embarrassed. I sat up, dusting myself off and Crowley sat in front of me. A quiet grunt escaped Crowley's mouth as he started to get up but I stopped him, taking hold of his hand and pushing him down to me. With a surprised gasp, he fell forward, his hands resting around my shoulders. "I-I'm so s-sorry." He blushed and moved slightly away from me. I rested my hand on his slightly pink and warm cheek. "It's alright." He closed his eyes and rested his head onto my hand as if it was a cushion. Reminder for later, give this touch starved demon hugs everyday. I smile delightedly and without a second thought, brought my head closer to his. Crowley, understanding the gesture, leaned in as well and brought our lips together.
