Andy

When I finally woke up, the sun was streaming in through the window and my body hurt even worse. I didn‘t hear any noise which I figured was strange, so I grabbed my phone and it said it was noon. No way I had slept that long. Jumping out of bed I patted my clothes down and pulled my hair up into a bun not even bothering to look at myself in the mirror.

I walked down the stairs and didn’t see any people, and looking outside I realized most of the vehicles were gone except for a few.

“Andy!”

I turned around when I heard somebody call my name and saw Mary waving from the kitchen. Of course.

Walking in I said hi and sat down at the table. She sat across. “So,” she smiled. “You slept in, huh?”

I almost laughed. “Yeah, you could say that.”

She laughed and I realized how pretty she really was. She wore a white skirt and a blue top today, and it really brought out her green eyes.

“Your probably wondering why you’re here, aren’t you?”

I bit the inside of my cheek and nodded.

She placed a hand on top of mine. “Don’t worry, hun. We’re the good guys. And soon you’ll understand everything.”

Letting out a slow breath I tried to calm my spinning head down. “Where is everybody around here?”

She quickly stood up and laughed. “Oh, you know. Exploring this little town, shopping. Whatever it is you kids do.”

Now I was confused. “By kids, you mean…?”

“Well, Matthew and Jerrod of course, oh and Rachel! And two others, I’m sure you’ll get along great. It’s just them five, my husband, my brother and myself.”

“So where’s everybody else?”

She took something out of the oven, I think it was cookies. “They never stay in the same place for more than three days,” she shook her head before she continued. “I’m not going to say anything else, or I’ll just confuse you more. Let’s just wait for the other’s to get back?” She put the cookies onto a plate. “Cookie?”

“Uh, sure.” I took one and it burned my mouth but I ate it anyways.

Just then, four teenage bodies came walking through the front door and into the kitchen--and all stopped except for Matt. “Hey, Andy.” he smiled, walked past me and grabbed a few cookies.

I saw Rachel roll her eyes and then sit down at the other end of the table.

The other two guys, who I recognized because they were each in one of my classes, smiled, sat down and observed me.

One had to be 6”4, with tanned skin and long golden dreadlocks. He didn’t look older than eighteen and stuck a muscled arm across the table towards me. “Hey, I’m Jude.”

I shook it awkwardly and nodded. “Andy.”

He laughed and leaned back in his chair. “We know.”

Uh, okay then.

The other looked Asian, was a lot shorter but still had a good build. He shook my hand more politely. “I’m Mike, and it’s good to finally meet you.”

“Stop sucking up Mike, she doesn’t care,” Rachel tossed her hair over her shoulders.

“Shut up Rachel, I don’t even know why you’re here.” Quick comeback from Mike.
