. Chapter 1.5

Yesterday

Taehyung was unpredictable, always has, and Jimin could never figure him out. At sixteen, he was too young and too naïve to understand what it meant. What he had. Has. Jimin received a call twenty minutes ago, hesitated when he saw that it was Yoongi, and he told him to come to the school as fast as he could. From his voice, Jimin knew something was wrong. Something was wrong with Taehyung.

And he ran.

When he reached the school, he saw red and blue lights from the police vehicles. The principal's car parked carelessly on the road, and a mob of people and some of the school faculty crowded the courtyard. Police tried to keep the crowd at bay, shouting orders, and he immediately spotted Taehyung's parents. For some reason, he stayed with the group instead of going over there. He wouldn't know what to say. He dialled Yoongi's phone but no answer. He tried to look for him and Taehyung. He didn't know what else to do, so he called Jungkook and answered after a couple of rings. "Hello?"

"I don't know what to do," Jimin cried into the phone, clutching at his chest. It felt like something was crushing him. "Yoongi called, and I don't know where Tae is – we fought yesterday, and I don't know where he is Kook – I – "

"Jimin," Jungkook shouted in the other line. He hadn't realized he probably sounded crazy. "Ok... calm down, alright? Where are you?"

"I'm at the school," He tried to swallow the lump in his throat. "And there's police and an ambulance."

"I'm on my way, alright?" He nodded, dumbly in my situation. "Jiminie, I'm coming."

He ended the call and tried Yoongi again. It didn't go through, and he resisted throwing it. He tried to push through the crowd, but a police officer blocked his way. He tried telling him that I needed to get in there and his friend had called him, but the police officer refused to let him through. He still didn't know why, but he stayed hidden so that Taehyung's parents couldn't see him.

"They're trying to get him down." He heard a man in the crowd say to another a few feet beside him. He felt my chest seize.

Who?

"I overheard an officer saying the guy who ran after him is trying to talk him down. He's been going at it for almost an hour."

"Poor guy." Jimin felt dizzy and lightheaded. He grabbed the wall for support, and his chest felt like it was getting crushed.

He heard his name from the back of the crowd, and he rushed to his friend. Jungkook had to catch himself from falling back as he hugged him. Jimin tried to keep quiet, and he could feel everyone stare at him. Jungkook held the back of his neck and pulled him into his chest. "I don't know where he is." Jimin felt him tightening his arms around him. "I messed up. I didn't help him."

"Shhh, don't do that." Jimin could hear Jungkook's voice break. "It's not your fault."

The crowd got excited, and Jungkook shook him to turn around. Jimin couldn't see anything past the crowd. He tried to push through, almost shoving people to the side, and he only caught a glimpse of Taehyung. His head was down, and his hair was covering his face. Jimin called out, but Taehyung didn't look up as his parents rushed to him. The police officer guided them toward the back of the ambulance, and a paramedic wrapped a blanket around Taehyung's shoulders. Yoongi followed behind with a few officers. Jimin called out his name, and Yoongi looked up.

Yoongi seemed to hesitate and looked back and forth at Taehyung and Jimin. He walked over and pulled Jimin away from the crowd. His eyes were bloodshot, and his cheeks stained with tears. "Jimin." Yoongi's voice caught in his throat. "Taehyung tried to –"

"No, stop." Jimin didn't want to believe it. He didn't want to hear what Yoongi was about to say.

"They're taking him to the hospital, and he's going to be kept under supervision." The doors of the ambulance closed, and the siren made Jimin jump out of my skin. He saw Taehyung's father run to his car, Taehyung and his mother in the back of the ambulance. "I need to go. Come with me."

He didn't know why he didn't go with him. Taehyung needed him. "I can't."

"Yoongi?" Yoongi and Jimin had mutual respect for each other - for Taehyung. They never entirely spoke about it, but if they wanted to be part of Taehyung's life, they needed to get along. And they did. But when he said he couldn't go, Yoongi looked almost disgusted. "Are you serious?"

Jimin said nothing. Yoongi pushed past him, and he got in his car, following the ambulance that had already left. Why didn't I go?

The crowd was gone, and it was just him and Jungkook. He grabbed Jimin's arm and pulled him to leave, but Jimin continued to stare after Yoongi's car. "Jimin, let's go."

In the first part of the story, I want to show Jimin's ignorance of bipolarism (hopefully not to portray him as ignorant but only ignorant of mental illness).
