A bead of sweat trailed it's way down (Y/N)'s face, her doe eyes locking onto a single flickering star. The way it seemed to dance, flashing while all the other stars lifelessly sat there on a black and blue canvas. If (Y/N) was in some fantasy novel she'd almost take into consideration morse code, was it speaking to her? Telling her to get her ass off the dewy farm grass? These meaningless questions seemed to cloud (Y/N)'s brain but when a mangy walker grabbed ahold of her boot she was snapped out the black hole that was her imagination.
"You fucker," She sighed out while driving her knife into the temple of the walker inches away from her. Hours ago (Y/N) was surrounded by what seemed like hundreds of walkers, they circled her, filled her ears with monotone growls and after that she remembers nothing, as a matter of fact she could hardly remember the events that took place let alone the picturesque farm or the voice she remembered calling for her. It was all so hazy almost as if it was a dream, but that voice, if (Y/N) wasn't feeling so numb she was sure it would haunt her.
Letting a hefty sigh escape from between her lips, (Y/N) pushed herself off the ground and allowed her eyes to travel. She took in what once looked like a barn then the large white home in front of her. (Y/N) was almost certain at one point it looked like a home straight out of a magazine but now it seemed dull. Speckles of blood laid effortlessly on the white-boards like an award-winning painting and the corpses that lie on the ground would have made fine decorations if it were the spooky season. Random weapons were littered upon the same dewy grass (Y/N) found herself sitting on earlier and in the distance white smoke could be seen. She had to be dreaming, it all seemed set up, like a set or a painting come to life.
Grumbling, (Y/N) reached for a random weapon when suddenly a sharp pain hit her causing her to collapse onto her knees. The pain echoed in her body, sending needles to each nerve which then caused endless shivers down her spine. Her vision, which was once crystal clear began to fade as if someone was dropping thick ink into her eyes. Then the scream, it was a from a boy, her age if she had to guess. He seemed to be in pain like he was struggling to get to her.
"(Y/N)," The male voice seemed shakey this time, it was loud, in her head, but (Y/N) wasn't crazy, surely someone was nearby calling for her, it wasn't a memory, it couldn't be. Bringing herself to her feet again (Y/N) mindlessly followed the voice in her head. It was never more than her name, never a different tone, but despite that, she was certain it came from the woods, the pasture, the road, somewhere. If she had known better she'd peg it as a friend, a guy who maybe once liked her, but she had no one right? (Y/N) knew of no one, but then it happened. A freckled face, a sheriff hat, a sideways smirk that caused her stomach to twist and turn. Suddenly the unknown face was covered in endless crystal-like tears, lips moving to form what looked like (Y/N)'s name.
Was it all finally coming together? Something bad happened, she saw this now, she knew someone, no, more than one person. The thoughts were confusing, headache-inducing and at this point (Y/N) wanted nothing more than a nap, but she knew if she tried she would fail. Her mind would never clear, she wouldn' stop hearing that voice and she wouldn't stop thinking about the pains that circulated around her head.
(Y/N) was hurt, alone, searching for a ghost among the dead that had rightfully taken her. She was now another confused soul on a newfound mission, but she'd put a face to the voice, she would remember.
She had to.
