245 days and counting...

"Our children don't know what to do, they just want to hear their fathers voice again, they want to be able to play catch with you again. Please Xiu, if you can hear me, wake up. We all miss you so much" I cried sobbing into my husbands arm

"Mummy, when will daddy wake up?" I turned to see my little daughter Sui, she had just turned 3. We had a massive birthday party for her, it was Adventure Time themed, she didn't necessarily like the show but she asked me what was Daddy's favourite kid show and when I told her it was Adventure Time, she insisted to have her birthday themed as it. "For Daddy" she would smile and give me reassurance.

"Daddy will wake up soon hunny, go play with your brother" her brother Lee was finding it the hardest. He and his father had the closest bond, being 12 years old and getting close to going through puberty and starting to go through his adolescent years without a father by his side is hard.

245 days we went without Xiumin, we were struggling, not financially, but physically, emotionally and mentally. We just wanted him to wake up. Xiumin was in an accident, which put him in a coma.

One day after work he decided to go for a walk to grab something from the shops, he would always rather go for a walk than to drive his car, that's how he stayed fit. According to the police, one afternoon a couple were fighting in their car. The man wasn't paying attention to the road, so he didn't notice the traffic lights turn orange and then red. He didn't notice Xiumin walking across the pedestrian crossing until it was too late.

The couple drove off, they left him there, dying. They didn't even call an ambulance. A witness who was taking their dog for a walk witnessed it all and she called the police and the ambulance.

The benefit was that there was a camera from one of the shops which witnessed the whole thing and managed to get the cars number plate and the couple were arrested and charged and are awaiting a court case, which will depend on whether Xiumin makes it out of his coma.

When we found out about the accident, I thought my life was over, I thought I lost the love of my life, the father of my children.

When we made it to the hospital he was in undergoing surgery. After four terrifying hours we were finally updated. Because of the speed of the car, it severely damaged him, he had broken ribs, fractured arm, fractured skull, broken leg and nerve damage. Which resulted in his coma. They also told me that due to his wounds and damage to his head, he may never wake from his coma and there's no way of knowing.

I told Sui and Lee to give their father a gentle kiss and cuddle and prepared for them to go home, we visited him every second day, when I wasn't busy working or doing house work and chasing around the little ones.

I watched as they said goodbye to him, I picked Sui up and wiped her little tear that managed to escape from her eye "I'm okay mummy, I am a brave girl!" she smiled with her toothless grin

As we reached the door we all instantly turned our heads as we heard a grown. I ran out the door and called for a nurse immediately. My husband, he was finally awake! He fought it. The nurse came rushing over with a few other doctors and were inspecting him. They eventually let us through to see him, we were finally all together again. We ran over to him giggling and gave him the biggest hug. But my life changed forever
