Sofia Ryan.
As the fire grew smaller and the conversation filling the night air grew shorter, I felt my eyes growing heavier. As much as I wanted to, I couldn't deny the fact that the early morning rise and the events of the day were beginning to have their way with me. After years of spending twelve hours at the gym, I'd become accustomed to the fatigue and muscle ache that gymnastics brought on. But I hadn't grown accustomed to the tired feeling it left at the end of the day and now, even without being in the presence of a room that smelled purely of deoderant and chalk, I was still struggling. Even though Hailee and Niall had excused themselves for a late night walk, Zayn had excused himself to call Perrie before she got on her flight to Australia, and Harry and Jade had excused themselves to do only god knows what, I couldn't bring myself to leave. I was living a dream that most girls throughout the world would kill for and I wasn't about to let that sacred time pass me by for something I could do any other day.
"It's been a lovely evening, but I think I'm done for," Liam said as he arose from his seat across the circle. He stretched before giving Louis and I one last lazy grin, "I'm going to see if Jordyn's out of volleyball practice, then turn in," Then, realizing he'd said too much, he frowned.
"Your secret is safe with me, Liam," I smiled.
"Thank you, Sofia," He grinned, "It's not that I don't trust you, but.."
"No need to say more," I said as I held my hand up. Liam nodded before ducking out of the patio and becoming a dark silouhette against the pale lamp lighting. As soon as he was out of earshot, I looked to Louis for an explanation. It wasn't that I meant to pry on Liam's personal affairs, but, as far as any fan knew, he hadn't taken interest in anyone since splitting with Danielle early last fall.
"You almost know as much as I do," Louis said, "He hasn't told us much. He met her in Sydney while we were on tour in Australia and they've been talking ever since," There was an ache in his voice that sent chills up my spine. I wanted to ask what he meant by the first statement, but I withdrew myself from doing so. I knew that if he'd wanted to tell me, he would've.. plus, like so, it wasn't any of my business. So, instead of prying like any other girl would've, I crossed my arms across my chest and continued to fight off my drowsiness. "You're getting tired, aren't you?"
"Why would you think that?" I smiled.
"If you're tired, then you need to get your rest," He said, "We can always talk tomorrow,"
"I'm not really tired though," I insisted.
"Your eyes tell otherwise," He grinned.
"Ass," I said as I tried my best not to smile. It didn't work. Louis laughed aloud at my attempt before intertwining his hand through mine and pulling me off the bench. Louis dropped my hand almost as quickly as he had grabbed it, but I still felt my cheeks grow warm at our skin contact. Louis nodded over his shoulder towards the villa as he kicked some dirt over the dying fire. Before we got the chance to leave the patio, we were greeted by the sound of laughter. One was high-pitched and crystal clear while the other was coated by the thick Irish accent it belonged to. I raised an eyebrow as Hailee and Niall stumbled into view. Both were covered in sand and laughing uncontrollably. "What do we have here?"
"Nothing," Hailee said in between breaths. I didn't press her for an answer because, from the look in her eyes, I knew that she didn't want to talk about it just yet. I knew Hailee hadn't gone out and gotten herself into something she couldn't handle; she was smarter than that. But I knew, from the shine in her eyes she had standing there with Niall, that if things were to continue, she'd fall.. and when Hailee finally willed herself to fall, she fell hard.
