A Silent Promise

The cold fog of the night hung thickly over the battle field. Bodies were thrown down everywhere, but in the middle of it all, lay the three strongest men. The three who stayed together through it all.

Two brothers and an angel, actually. They lay close together, two of them closer than just friends. The angel in the trench coat gave a soft smile to the green eyed hunter, his eyes crinkling. He returned it will a small smile of his own.

Behind the green eyed man was his brother. He gave a stressed cough, and the two quickly looked over to him. The younger brother gave a weak smile and nod, and let his head fall to the ground. A promise that he would see him soon. The older brother let out a small gasp, and tears sprung to his eyes. The angel went to heal him, but knew his grace was to weak and it was too late.

He looked over to the angel, and chocked back a sob. Their eyes met and the angel gave a small nod. A promise to never leave him. They would stay together till the end, which was quickly approaching, but neither of them payed attention to it.

The man reached his hand out to the angel, and the angel grabbed onto it, like it was the last thing he could do. They spoke no words, but their eyes said all they never could out loud.

The blue eyes closed slowly, and he let out a little sigh. The green eyes squeezed shut as he felt the hand he was holding grow limp.

Alone now, he lets the tears fall freely.
