The car was completely silent. The air was thick and Morgan couldn't lie, she was terrified. She didn't know what they were about to walk into, or what she was about to see. But she was there for her boyfriend, she knew now, more than any other time, he needed her.
"Baby..." she called out to him. "Everything's gonna be okay, Mir," she spoke reassuringly, placing her hand on his arm and rubbing it soothingly. He didn't speak, his jaw simply clenched and unclenched repeatedly. He did, though, grab her left hand with his right, squeezing it tightly, showing her just how scared he was.
When they pulled into Ms. Delilah's driveway, there was another car there and Samir wasted no time jumping out of his truck and running to the front door, keys in hand. Morgan was right behind him as he pushed the door open, promptly hearing glass shattering.
"Shit," he muttered, making his way to the back of the house, hands shaking. "Mo, stay up here, I-" she cut him off, coming to stand right next to him.
"No, Samir. I'm going with you," she shook her head, following behind him. He sighed slightly but continued on. He knew he was probably going to end up fighting this man and he didn't want her seeing that side of him, but she was determined.
They walked side by side to where the noise was coming from, and Morgan had to stop herself from gasping audibly. Malakai stood in front of his mother and sister, who were cowering in fear. There was blood dripping from his nose and from his head, where there was a large gash, stretching from his forehead to right above his eyelid.
Her eyes slowly traveled to the man who held a broken glass bottle, Malakai's blood dripping from one of the jagged edges of the severed bottle. She dragged her eyes back to Kai, who was honestly staggering, looking sick at the sight of his own blood.
After analyzing the situation, without so much as another word, Samir charged at the man. His sister screamed as they both fell to the floor, Samir on top, throwing punches to his face mercilessly. He wasted no time getting up off of the floor and grabbing the man up by the collar of his shirt, pressing him against the wall.
"I could have swore I told your bitch ass stay away from this house," he spat, pressing his forearm against the mans throat. He had a significant advantage because he and Morgan entered so quietly, they caught him off guard. "Mama did he touch you? Or Erin?" he asked without turning his head from Bernard who was visibly struggling to breathe.
"No, no baby, he didn't," Ms. Delilah's shaky voice spoke, eyes trained on her younger son. Morgan saw him as well, he was still staggering where he stood, and she was scared he would fall. She rushed over to him and slowly helped him out of the vicinity, past her boyfriend who was still choking the man in front of him.
"Come on Ms. Delilah, let's go outside," Morgan encouraged. She was frozen, staring at Samir. Once Morgan got her attention she was able to get everyone outside and the authorities and an ambulance ere called since Bernard was violating his order of protection against the family.
