"When there's no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth"
"One.. two.. three" I sigh heavily before packing the tins of food back into my large backpack. Carefully opening a tin of pineapple slices i slump down on an old, dishevelled sofa hoping that the food will quieten my ever-rumbling stomach.
I desperately need to go on a supply run. It's been five months since the apocalypse first started and the whole world went to shit, and not once have i ever been so unorganised. I haven't seen one living person in weeks and i am starting to lose all hope in the world, I cant be the only person left, i cant be the only one going through this. I'm not entirely alone though, i have my cute, fluffy companion always by my side. I'm brought back to reality by the soft padding of feet coming towards me.
"Hey boy!" I whisper. Jax, a small boarder collie jumps up onto the sofa and nuzzles his head against my hand begging for some attention. He looks towards my other hand and instantly starts whimpering for some food.
Walking across the room i pick up a silver bowl that i found when i was last out on a supply run, scavenging for food and water.
"Come on then, Come here boy" I softly whisper as i pour the remaining half of pineapple slices into the bowl and carefully place it back onto the floor.
I walk away leaving him to eat his food and wonder over to the front room, cautiously tiptoeing towards the window. Desperately trying not to make a single sound i peel back the curtains to analyse our surroundings and see if we will be safe for the night. There's only a few of the walkers, wondering around aimlessly. Feeling relieved i place the curtains back in place and head to the back door then the front door, checking they are both locked and barricaded for extra security.
Laying back onto the sofa i quietly pat the space next to me and Jax jumps up and cuddles up against my leg ready for the night. Feeling under my pillow i grab my gun and check it's loaded before carefully placing it back underneath.
"Night little one" i whisper as i start petting Jax's head.
Taking another glance around the room i scoot down lower on the sofa. Closing my eyes, hoping for a good night's rest to get my energy up for my run tomorrow.
