Chapter Seven

Demons

'The jewel has chosen you as its keeper', Toshiro's word echoed on Naga's head as she lay down staring at the ceiling. Her thoughts were running wide with the possibility of being a Keeper. If according to the history after protecting the jewel will she vanish. Why was she chosen the past keepers had powers but she had nothing she was just a teenager from the modern world. Things happening  around her made no sense at all this was not what she wanted. She wanted a normal life, to finish high school and college, get a mouth watering paying job, buy a big beach house, she loved water and if possible settle down with a family. But now, she wasn't sure any of these can happen not when she is here in a strange world as a Keeper. She glanced at the lady sleeping few feet's away from her, if only she could sleep like that, but she knew she couldn't she wasn't even sure if she can go home, she missed her friends her school, her mother and her siblings. Talking about siblings she had been looking for Umiko before everything and she know that they will be looking for her. 'God why me', she literally screamed.

Deep inside the forest, leaves ruffled and a dark aura hung in the air. The forest was dark except for the moon soon the rustling of leaves became intensive and a pair of miss matched eyes of black and green snapped open. The eyes shone with a ferocity of a middle ranked demon know as SNAKE PILE. This demon devours animals to keep its form, it was a combination of a snake and lizard with the face of an old man. Snake pile raised his head and sniffed in the air around him and his eyes shone with hunger. He sensed a powerful human not just an ordinary human but a keeper and that only means one thing, THE JEWEL HAS AWOKEN and soon other demons will sense it. He was tired of living by wild games, he knew that if he should be able to get the jewel then his wish to be a powerful rank demon not depending on anything for survival will come to pass. But before then he needed to get rid of the keeper for the are stronger than demons like him. He let out a long hiss and dashed out.

Naga felt uneasy she couldn't pinpoint it to anything ,'does it have something to do with the jewel she wondered'. As seconds passed she felt a low fire in her abdomen and the jewel glowed intensively, what was happening, she had a bad feeling about this. Should she wake Toshiro up what if she waves her off. Well she should just try. She was about to crawl to where Toshiro lay when she heard screams from outside and Toshiro's eyes snapped open.
"What is happening", Toshiro asked getting up in full alert. " I have no idea but I know something is off", Naga said. Toshiro was about to pose another question to Naga when the head of the warriors rushed in panting. "Priestess, we are under attack by SNAKE PILE". I should have known it the jewel has fully awaken, Toshiro thought. " Who is snake pile", Naga asked getting confused. "He is a middle rank demon a half snake and lizard he is after the jewel to fulfil his darkest heart desire, the jewel has awakened fully and now, it needs you to keep it safe and you can't stay here , she have to run deep into the Selene forest where he can't get you"." It is a forest protected the moon goddess and Snake Pile can't enter, you need to run",Toshiro concluded. "What about you". " I need to stay here to distract him long enough for you to escape though I don't know how long because he is bond to smell you once you run away so you need to run as fast as you can, you can't take a horse because he controls animal_". Toshiro was cut short by the shattering of the roof of the house they where inside and they barely managed to escape. Once outside the faced the destruction Snake pile has created and snake pile him self. "GIVE ME THE JEWEL", the reptile bellowed in a great voice. 'I love my life, shouldn't I give him the jewel or better still destroy it then it won't exist again',Naga thought. As if Toshiro could read Naga's thoughts she turned to her and said " as far as I know,the jewel brought you here and I believe it can take you back, now child run as fast as you can into the forest by your left,we will hold him off as long as we can",Toshiro said and smiled. Naga had no option, she wanted to go home so badly to end all these night made and if the jewel will lead her home, then she will keep it safe. Now it was time to put into practice her best sport, she nodded and smiled and Toshiro and dashed off heading to the selene forest.
