"Temmy!" My manager, Toya called.

"Yes?"

"I'm going out for a meeting watch over the store for me."

"Ok no problem."

"If I'm not back you know where the keys are, close up shop." She smiled waving me off.

"Yes ma'am, bye." I smiled pushing my glasses up on my face.

I dug back into my book. I loved to write poetry my dream was to be a famous poet finding a way to fit poetry into clothing someday but for right now I was stuck in Brooklyn working at a clothing store. I was still a student so this is what was paying the bills for me.

I licked my index finger and turned the page when I heard the door chime go off. I removed my glasses and looked up.

"Hi welcome to Toya's." I looked up and smiled.

A little light skinned woman appeared, she obviously had some work done and she obviously was worth some money. I don't know what possessed her to wear that awful mink but that's her.

"Where's Toya?" She asked walking up to the counter.

"She went out on a business meeting, I'm Temmy."

"And you work here? Aren't you a little big?" She asked eyeing me.

"Um. I-." I swallowed hard.

"Nevermind I'll continue to look around." She turned away.

"Man, Millie come on." I heard the door chime again, this time a man entered.

He had a little girl on his hip. He was heavily tattooed and had braids in his hair. He looked smug and rude. I eyed him down. When I looked up our eyes met.

"Um, welcome to Toya's."

"Yeah wassup." He nodded.

"Dave what do you think about these?" She asked holding up a pair of pants.

"I don't know just hurry up."

"Daddy who's she?" The little girl said pointing at me.

"Kairi, baby don't point." He said looking at me.

"I just wanna know." She whispered loudly.

I came from behind the counter and leaned against the front of it.

"I'm September, but people call me Temmy. What's your name pretty?" I asked smiling.

"My names Kairi, this is my mommy and daddy." She smiled proudly.

"Aw good to know Kairi." I smiled.

"Why is your name September?" The man asked.

"Well, my mother's name was June. But my daddy doesn't like the name July or August so he named me September." I explained.
