Chapter 3

“It’s Daniel.”

We stood still like statues as Sam took the call in front of us. Kylie and I exchanged looks. This is not going to be easy for Sam.

“Daniel, I really don’t think you should apologise because—“Sam walked around her room nervously playing with her hair. “Oh okay.” She said awkwardly. “I’m fine; I just don’t think we should get back together… I really don’t think we should… We are never ever getting back together unless you can prove to me that you’re sorry… Daniel, I… Oh okay, well I’ll see you around.”

She hung up and looked at us with sad eyes. She crashed on her bed and massaged her head. Kylie and I went by her side and lay on the bed with her.

“He wanted us to get together and he wanted to take me out on a date but I said no.” Samantha told us sadly. “I really like him though.” She admitted but I thought that maybe she could do better.

“Guys, I got a text from Lewis, he asked me to go to the park with him, he has a surprise and I asked him if I can bring you guys along and he said ‘sure thing’. Kylie said with a big smile, she was obviously in love with Lewis, they were made for each other but the only thing is that, they are total opposites, she likes sports, he likes books but Lewis is really sweet and would totally give up book club just to go out with Kylie. “But on one condition, you guys are nowhere around me and Lewis.” She added with her warning eyes.

Sam and I nodded and we took Sam’s car to the park where we shared our memories as a kid. Kylie and Lewis are probably going to have a romantic evening and I knew that because when it comes to romance, Lewis is the perfect organiser for a perfect romantic date. He might seem shy but with Kylie, he is really easy to talk to. I guess Kylie makes him feel better. He gets bullied at school sometimes but ever since Kylie dated him, she scared off the guys who bullied him. Told you they were perfect, plus Lewis brings out the sweet side of Kylie.

We got there within minutes and as soon as we got out of the car, Kylie went running to Lewis who was standing under a willow tree with a picnic basket and a blanket. Kylie waved goodbye and walked away with Lewis for their date.

Sam pulled me to the bench and we sat there talking about different things. I wouldn’t dare to bring up the subject about Daniel because I knew she wouldn’t like it but she still needed to talk about it.

Her phone beeped and her smile faded as soon as she saw the text.

“Sam, is there something wrong?” I asked worried that it might be Daniel. She took a long pause before she answered.

“It’s… Daniel.” She finally said as she breathed out heavily before telling me. “He keeps asking me to get together with him.” She looked at the ground pursing her lips.

“He’s a jerk, Sam.” I blurted out what came on my mind. “You deserve so much better, there’s a gym full of guys waiting for you to ask them out.” I told her making her sigh. I really have no idea what goes through my best friend’s mind sometimes. She has absolutely no idea how much a jerk Daniel was.

Her phone rang and I peeked at the ID number and it was him. She mouthed to me ‘It’s Daniel, I’m gonna see what he wants.’ I nodded and she left me alone on the bench. I sigh and thought ‘Sam is totally gonna get together with Daniel.’

‘I love you, Daniel.” The blonde who looked familiar said while staring dreamily at his blue eyes like an idiot.

“I love you too.” Daniel said leaning towards the blonde and pressing his lips onto hers, by eyes were blinded by that.

I felt someone shaking my shoulder and I shook my head. ‘Even my daydreams were nightmares.’ I thought. I looked up and saw the cutest stranger I’ve ever seen. My eyes were locked onto his green piercing eyes; he was gorgeous with blonde hair and all. He was holding a skate board on his right hand and my shoulder on his left. It was a long moment before I backed away.

“Hey are you okay?” The mysterious stranger had a wonderful husky voice that made my evening.
