max's jaw dropped as she heard he name come out of her best friend's mouth. mike! wheeler! she couldn't believe her ears. he seemed far out of will's league.. the two were practically complete opposites. will: quiet, more reserved. mike: loud, obnoxious, and all over the place. how could one fall for the other? opposites attract? well, as you can tell, max's mind was overflowing with thoughts. she as well as mike, was in a grade higher than will. she somewhat knew mike better than the brunette did. they still had classes together, considering that will took advanced classes, a grade level higher than his own. him and max just hit off when she moved in to the house next to his a couple years back. he was her first friend in hawkins and she was very grateful for that.

"max? maxiiine?" will looked over at her, tapping her shoulder to get her attention. she snapped out of it, flashing will one of her smiles. "what was that all about? you zoned out for a minute.." he commented.

"just thinkin' you know.. you and mike wheeler.. maybe you would be a cute couple," the girl smirked, earning a slap to the shoulder from will. "shut up!" will laughed. "we just met.. not even a day ago. though.. he's really sweet, he offered to walk me home yesterday," he gushed. mike wasn't how he expected him to be.. his appearance was far off from how he acted, towards will at least. "he walked you home? that's like.. the most cliche thing ever," max smiled, wrapping an arm around will and beginning to walk to the diner for lunch.

on the other hand, mike still sat at the library table. many thoughts began running through his mind. he hated to admit it, by now it was pretty obvious that he had a crush on byers. the fact that he was even hanging out with somebody else made him anxious.

was will dating max?

mike watched from the window as the two walked away, both laughing and giggling. he shrugged it off and picked up his book and his skateboard, proceeding to walk to the librarian's desk to check out the book. exiting the door, he slipped in his earbuds and stood on the skateboard, with the book tucked under his arm. he drifted down the street swiftly.
