Stolen Soul [4]

I let go too soon. But maybe it wasn't a mistake? What if it was just destiny for me to let go?

I was finally discharged from the hospital. I let out a sigh of relief, the hospital was suffocating me. Even isolating me from living my life.

I felt somewhat miserable. My weaknesses burdened the people around me. Daehwi came back but saw me in the worst way. I doubt anyone would want to see their childhood bestfriend in a damn hospital bed after 8 years. That's just torture...hell.

I had a long conversation with Daehwi but occasionally glanced at Taehyung who was engrossed in his phone, looking frustrated. But there was something off about him. Taehyung distracted me at times, Daehwi would always ask if everything was okay. I obviously said nothing was wrong. Taehyung would also briefly look at me and I would notice. It always got awkward when I did though.

"Yah, Madeline. You keep looking at that Taehyung dude. Are you okay?" Daehwi questioned while he placed his hand on my shoulder.

"Uhm... Yeah. Of course, he's just giving off an abnormal aura,"

Daehwi bit his bottom lip, "Maddie, you know that's not a good sign."

"I... I know. But there's something that's attracting me to him. Like a magnet?"

"Madd, snap out of it! You know you shouldn't be attracted to that. He's not Taehyung. That's not the Taehyung you know. Madds please don't!"

Flashback

"Give me your body, let me possess it. I won't hurt the people around you,"

She sighed and forfeited, "Do what you want, but don't hurt my daughter,"

"Madeline is pathetic, I don't have any intention of doing anything with her. Just let me have your body,"

The woman closed her eyes, it grabbed her hands and sucked her soul and life out of her.
She dropped to the ground, lifeless.

"I can take over her life now, like I should've long ago. Killing me was no use,"

It hovered over her body in anger, "I will destroy your life and reputation. YOU ARE NOTHING ANYMORE"

It went to Madeline's house in a rush, "You fool, I'm always going to ruin your daughter's life. Nothing will stop that,"

Daehwi's POV
Madeline and I were playing in her house. Waiting for her mother to come back.

Hours passed until there was finally a ring from the doorbell. "Madd, I think your mum's home!"

I opened the door to see Madeline's mother with grocery bags. I tried carrying one but before I could she pulled away. I suddenly felt a shiver down my spine. She had an abnormal aura. She normally isn't like this. Why is she?-

Wait....

That's not Madeline's mother. That's a stolen soul. I ran to Madeline, hugging her. "Madeline, go outside to the back door and wait for me okay? Don't worry about your mother, I'll help her out. Okay?" I whispered.

Madeline nodded and walked outside. I walked back to it but it was gone. I sprinted back towards Madeline to see her screaming. It was coming towards her. I ran to Madeline and hugged her, "Shhh, it's okay. It's okay,"

"What a nice friend you are. But if you don't move, you might disappear," it said.

"I don't care. Just don't hurt Madeline. She did nothing to you,"

"SHE DID, SHE HURT ME BY EXISTING. She hurt my existence..."

I bit my lips in fear, I can't let Madeline go like this.

"Stop protecting her or-"

I got Madeline and I out of the way before it could even try to hit us. Before I could turn back, I heard a painful screech.

I turned around to see ash on the grass. Where'd it go?...

I turn to Madeline and made sure she was okay. She was, but she was just a bit frightened. I rested my head on hers and caressed her hair. "Thank god..." I mouthed.

End of Flashback

"Madeline you know what happened. You remember, I know you do. PLEASE MADELINE DON'T."

"How couldn't I? He's like a magnet making me go closer and clos-"

Daehwi hugged me tightly and whispered, "Madeline don't do this. Your mother wants you to stay alive longer than she did. I don't want the same thing happening to you,"

My eyes widened, and I released the hug. W-what was I just doing. What happened. "Daehwi, what happened. Where did Taehyung go?"

"What do you mean where did Taehyung go?"

"He's gone from the seat he was in,"

Daehwi sighed, "He was a stolen soul Madds. He wasn't the real Taehyung. That thing stole Taehyung's life. That mean's he might be dead-"

"DEAD?"

My jaw dropped in terror. I quickly rushed out of the hospital, with Daehwi's hand in mine. I was dragging him without noticing. "We have to find him!"

"Madds... It might be too late-"

"No it's not, we can find him-"

We turned into a deserted alleyway but I tripped over something hard. Something familiar. I turned back and looked down. To see him. Taehyung. On the ground. Not moving nor breathing. My mouth started trembling and tears welled in my eyes. "No...No NO"

Daehwi let go of my hand and grabbed his phone, dialing the ambulance. We were close to the hospital but we both couldn't carry him over there. I could see Daehwi's hand shaking. What if this reminds him of my mother?...

3 minutes later, the ambulance arrived and carried Taehyung onto a stretcher. Daehwi looked at me with a worried face and mouthed, "It's going to be okay, I promise,"

"Can you two please hop onto the Ambulance? We can't contact his guardians,"

We both nodded and went in. I observed Tae's face. It was pale. Dead...

I'm taking my revenge. So hold on tight. I won't make things easy for you. Madeline.

I'll take away Daehwi and Taehyung at the same time. I won't let the Lee family continue. I won't let it's family tree continue. Nothing will continue when I'm in charge.
