My name is Daisy Willis. I'm in high school, and I have four best friends, Bryon and Kira Smith, Alyson Robinson, and Tobias Wilson. I was honestly just expecting to graduate high school and get the hell out of my house and get my own place, but I guess God or whatever had some other plans for me. See, there's a sickness going around. Nobody knows what exactly it is, so the Center for Disease Control has dubbed it the Nature's Vengeance Virus, or the NV Virus. None of us know how it happened, how the disease spread. The CDC refused to disclose any information on how it started. The head scientist, I think her name started with a 'K', shut herself in the fortified lab. From what I remember from the interviews on the News TV shows, which was all my mom would watch anymore, the scientist said she was trying to find a cure.
But little did my friends and I know was that our whole world was about to be ripped out from under us. Everything we knew, everything we loved, it was all about to be destroyed. Our families would be no more, and we would have to forge our own path, learn to grow up sooner than we should have. We learned the hardships of starvation, losing people we love, braving the weather, and learning to fight and survive. We lost friends and made new ones along the way. We became experts in the apocalypse. We learned how to be strong, and that became our greatest asset. But the real question is. . . how long can we keep ourselves alive? Can I protect my friends, no matter the cost?
