The back of his Harley was one of the few places Happy Lowman could find peace. The rumble of the engine, the tunnel vision, the way the air stung his skin, it was like a cleansing every time he fired up his bike, a way to wash away the sins of the day.
It didn't always work. Sometimes his actions had been too violent, the orders pushing what little boundaries he had, and the demons would descend, shrouding his mind in the kind of darkness he couldn't escape from no matter how hard he tried. Sometimes he felt like he was drowning. That was when he needed a different remedy. One that was warmer, softer, kinder than his Harley or the road ever could be.
