Under The Mask

Chapter One

Makayla's POV

"Kayla.... Kayla. KAYLA!!"

I jolt upwards when someone screams in my ear.

"What's going on?" I asked my the person who screamed, who turned out to be Kaydn.

"I wasn't gonna wake you up, cause you fell asleep, but it's 3:00 in the afternoon, and I haven't eaten today and I'm hungry and want food."

"Go make your own food Kaydn. Or ask mom or dad" I told him.

"First off neither of them are home. Seconds I'm ten. I'm not allowed to use the stove yet. Remember?" He said.

"Ok fine I will make so food. I'm kinda hungry too!" I replied. Seconds later I added "But where are mom and dad?" I said now realizing they were suppose to be home today.

Kaydn handed me a sticky note that said:

Dear Kayla and Kaydn:
Your dad and I have to go take care of a few things, but we will be home by dinner. Make anything you guys want to eat.
Love you both!
-mom

"What do you think they are 'taking care of'" my brother asked me.

A thousand thoughts ran throw go my mind, but I of course didn't tell any of them to my brother.

"I don't know bud. I don't know."

We headed down to the kitchen together and I made us some macaroni and cheese.

We both went out to the living room and watched spongebob while eating out macaroni.

After about 5 episodes of spongebob we heard the front door open.

"Kayla Kadyn we're home" yelled my mom.

"We're in the living room" I called back.

About thirty seconds later they were both in here with us.

"How was your guys day?" My dad asked us.

"Boring. I slept till 11:00 and Kayla slept till 3:00 which even then I have to wake her up to make me food." Kaydn replied to my dad.

"Wow you're you guys sure slept in!" My mother exclaimed.

Okay really. Really mom?

"YAH MAYBE BECAUSE TO TWI WERE TOO BUSY FIGHTING ANS YELLING AT EACHOTHER TO REALIZE YOUR KIDS WERE WOKEN UP AND AWAKE ALL NIGHT... NOT TO MENTION THAT ONE OF THEM WAS CRYING BECAUE HE WAS SO SCARED BY HIS PARENTS FIGHTING!" I screamed at them before storming out of the house.

I'm sure that when I get home I'm gonna get in trouble for yelling at them, but I needed to do it. They needed to understand what they are doing is not good. It's not healthy. For them or for us.

I don't know where I'm going. I'm just walking. Right now I'm in downtown LA. But I'm just going wherever my feet may take me. I keep running and all of a sudden when I look back for two seconds I ram right into someone.

Wow. Good going Makayla

I look at the person's face and see those bright green eyes that I fell for, I immediately know who I ran into.

"Oh my god Hunter!" I squealed when I realized the guy i tackled was my boyfriend.

"My goodness babe. What's up with the running and not looking where you're going?" He asked while laughing.

"My parents," that was all I had to say.

By now we were both standing up and he pulled me into a giant hug.

"What were they fighting about this time?" Hunter asked me.

"I don't know but they were screaming at each other the whole night last night." I sobbed.

We just stood there for the longest time, not even caring that we looked like idiots... Standing in the middle of the sidewalk crying.

I managed to calm myself down and then realized that Hunter should be at football practice now.

"Hey Hunt, aren't you suppose to be at practice?" I questioned him.

"Yes, I was on my way there when some chick ran into me knocking us both onto the ground." He said with a smirk.

I rolled my eyes at him. "Go to practice. The team needs their quarter back don't they?" I said now smiling.

"Okay okay. You gonna be alright though?" He asked me worried.

"Yah. I will. I'm gonna go head back. I will call you later. Bye Hunter." I said

"Bye Kayla" he said before walking in the opposite direction as I went.

I got back home and walked into my house. I ignored my parents who were sitting in the kitchen arguing about something. I went straight up to my room, changed into my pajamas and crawled into bed.

Tomorrow I can go to school and be away from my parents. Thank the lord.
