" 'Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep!' Is my favorite sound, on the morning I have to go to school!" said no one ever.
Especially on a Monday.

I drag myself out of my plush bed and fuzzy covers, get my towel, go to the bathroom, strip out of my clothes, set the water for my favorite temperature, and get in.

As the warm water hits my forehead and goes down my body, memories start to flow back into my mind like waves on a beach.

"She won't live long," the doctor stated with sorrow in his eyes, "about three more years at most. I'm terribly sorry."

Tears went down my cheeks then, and tears go down my cheeks now.
I'm glad I'm in the shower, though.
'Cause I don't feel like I'm crying alone.
After about fifteen minutes, I get out and pick out what to wear.

I end up picking out a pair of black jeans, a black Paramore t-shirt and my favorite black converse.
That's not bad, right?

I walked out of the room after brushing my hair, and went to check on my little monsters.

A.K.A. my seven-year-old brother and sister, Joseph and Jospehine.

And, yes, they're twins.

"My darlings," I whispered as I slightly shake them awake, "C'mon, it's time to go to school."

"But I don't wanna go to school," Joseph groaned.

"It's too far away!" Josephine complained.

"Children, it is right across the street," I replied with the sass they enjoy me using, "now get both of your little booties up and get dressed, breakfast will be ready in fifteen minutes, if your not in the kitchen by then, I won't give you money for the paletero. Your time starts... Now!"

With that being said, they rushed to their closets and put on their uniforms.
I go to the kitchen and cook some eggs and bacon for them, and some toasted bread.

A few minutes pass along and I hear their stomping from the hallway.
Yup, they're racing each other.
Again.

Complaint from Josephine in three... two...

"You pushed me! And I fell! And I got held back! And you cheated like on Friday!"

"I guess it sucks to suck, doesn't it?" Joseph said while sticking out his tongue.

"Hey," I speak, "what'd I say if I told you to speak like that again?"
I walked to the dish washer and got the soap.

He groaned but opened his mouth and closed his eyes, knowing the terrible taste about to come in his mouth.

"Alright, now spit," I said, "I don't want you to swallow. 'Cause that's disgusting."
I mentally laughed, but they shouldn't know that, they're not even ten yet!
"Lizzy..." Josephine mumbled.
"Yes, mija?"
"After I'm done eating, may I go see mommy?" she asked, almost crying, with her brown eyes, shinning like little buttons.
My heart fell.

"Um, no," I replied, "not right now, maybe tomorrow."

"You always say that!" they both snapped.
"Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow," Josephine yelled, "you don't want us to see her cause you want her to yourself!"

"Yeah," Joseph agreed, "why can't we see her? She's been 'sleeping' for two weeks now. Why won't we see her?"

"Guys," I said with care, letting out a sharp sigh, "I will explain whenever I can, but for now, go to school and learn so you can be even better than what you are, okay?"

"Okay." They responded.

As they shut the door behind them, I walked to the hallway and stopped at the door that lead into my mother's room.
