Chapter Six
I stared at my Dad in disbelief.
Not eight years ago on this day he left us.
I felt the tears fall from my eyes... I ignored the throbbing in my left eye from the punch.
It was then I noticed the other men around my Dads age surrounding him.
Suddenly, before either of us could say anything I was being held by the neck and a cold metal object held against my temple.
I swallowed as I realised it was a gun.
Perfect, this wasn’t the reunion I was picturing when I saw my Dad again.
I saw my Dad’s facial expression darken as he zeroed in on the guy.
Ten cars sped and squealed to a stop.
A furious looking Zach and his gang jumped out and a furious looking Jayden and his gang jumped put.
My jeep pulled up and Seth rushed to me and stopping in his tracks.
“Lil.” He shouted. “Let her go.”
The man laughed and shoving the gun to my temple harder making me wince.
“No, I’d think I have the upper hand here little boy.” The man said.
“Don't talk to him like that.” I said, wiggling to try and get out of his arms.
“Don't push me.” He whispered in my ear.
“I suggest you let go of her right now.” My dad growled.
Everyone looked at him in surprise... did they all know him?
“What are you going to do? You come near me and bang... she’s dead.”
“I'm going to kill you.” Zach said with a dangerous look in his eyes.
They argued back and forth about giving me back.
I took a deep breath and brought my heel to connect with his package... Hard.
He groaned in pain and it was enough to loosen his grip for me slip out.
I turned round just as I saw him cock the gun at me again.
I shook my head and kicked him in the crotch again.
He fell to his knees and dropped the gun.
By then he was surrounded by the men who were with my Dad, they lifted him up and started taking him away.
“Wait.” I yelled and ran around them.
“Lil, what are you doing?” my Dad said.
“What did you do to my Mom?” I asked him, ignoring my Dad.
He smirked and started laughing... he wasn’t going to tell me, I didn't intimidate him.
I narrowed my eyes, I grabbed one of the guys, guns out of his holster and pointed it at the guy.
“What are you doing?” I heard everyone say at once, which would have been funny if I weren’t in this situation.
“Please, like a little girl like you would know how to use a gun.” The guy laughed.
I pulled down the safety catch and put my finger on the trigger.
I raised an eyebrow and waited for him to respond.
He swallowed and look at me with wide eyes.
“What did you do with her?” I asked again.
“I-I... ok, he took her, I don't know why but I was sent to take you, I don't know anything else.” He said.
“Who’s he?” I asked.
“I'm not telling.”
“Ok then, any last words?”
“You won’t kill me.”
“Do you want to take the risk?”
He gave a worried glance at my father and then looked back at me.
“Ok his name is Martin Jones... you probably don't know him but—”
“What the fucking hell does he want with my wife and children.”
My dad growled and grabbed his neck.
I shrugged and gave the gun back to the guy and apologized.
He just shrugged and grinned.
“Don't know he didn't tell me anything, I swear.”
“Take him away.”
We were all frozen until he was driven off out of site.
“Lil.” Seth said and hugged me.
I squeezed him back and looked at him.
My lip quivered and tears burned my eyes.
“Seth, I'm so sorry, it’s all my fault. I should have gotten here quicker and Mom wouldn’t have been taken and—”
“This is not your fault you didn't know any of this would happen, we will get her back... why is Dad here?” he asked.
I shrugged and I turned around and saw Zach and Jayden talking to my father with admiration.
I found that so strange.
“Um...” was all that came out of my mouth.
“I think we need a little chat guys.” My Dad said walking into the house.
“Oh just let yourself in.” I mumbled.
Seth ran in catching up to him, I turned towards Zach who was giving orders to his gang.
Suddenly I was wrapped up in arms.
Jayden.
“What are you doing?” I said wiggling out of his grip.
“Nothing, I'm just glad you’re ok.” He said with something in his eye.
He walked off into the house while I frowned.
“Hey, you ok?” Zach asked gently.
“Yeah.” I breathed and got pulled into Zach’s warm embrace.
“You know, I'm never letting you out of my site right.” He chuckled lightly.
“I don't want you to, I feel safe in your arms.” I mumbled and push my head further into his chest.
It was true as long as I was with Zach I felt safe.
Now though was time I got an explanation from my Father.
