Jungkook was walking the hallways of his hellhole of a high school, his girlfriend Y/n recently passed away. She committed suicide, no one really knew why, or so they thought. Y/n was a friendly girl who was bubbly and sweet, she would never show her bad side unless you knew her well enough.
Jungkook always had asked himself every day on why she died, why did she kill herself. He blamed himself constantly to the point he broke down in the middle of class.
"Jungkook!" Lisa said, standing behind Y/n's locker. Everyone had written notes and brought in teddy bears.
"Hi..Lisa," he said awkwardly, she went in for a hug and Jungkook was quite weirded out. Lisa was on the decoration committee and planned out Y/n's memorial service, Lisa never talked to Y/n, she would always talk shit about her in the hallways. Although, Lisa was the fakest bitch at the school so you wouldn't be surprised.
"Isn't it so sad, such a tragedy we lost someone so special! Y/n will forever be in our hearts." she sighed, Jungkook just stood there with a cold expression.
"Are you okay? How are you coping with this? If you ever need someone to talk t-"
"I'm fine, Lisa. Can you just shut the fuck up and leave me the hell alone? You see all of you only cared about my girlfriend after she died, you never cared about her before she died." he interrupted
"All of this memorial stuff that you're doing is absolute bullshit! You didn't think the slightest of Y/n at her darkest hour! So please do me a favor, shut up! " he added on and then walked away leaving her stunned.
As Jungkook continued to walk down the hallways, he saw posters that said things like, 'Suicide isn't the answer' or 'Don't kill yourself, you'll hurt yourself in the end eventually.'
He was so pissed off by the posters he ripped all of them off the walls and dumped them in the trash bin, this caused for him to get some attention from other students.
"Yo Jungkook, you need to chill." Jackson said walking up behind him, Jungkook turned around and gave him a glare.
"Chill for what Jackson? Why should I be chilling when it hasn't even been 48 hours since my girlfriend died!" he continued to rip more and more suicide posters.
"You're causing a scene." Jackson said, trying to calm his friend down.
"You know what Wang? Fuck you!" he flipped him off and stormed out of the school entrance doors.
Jungkook got on his bike and rode back home, his parents luckily weren't there. On his front doorsteps, he found a package. It said, 'To Jeon Jungkook.' Now you see, Jungkook never received mail. It was rare for him to ever get mail from anyone, he quickly got inside the house and went upstairs to his room. He opened up the package and there were cassette tapes. He raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"Who the fuck still uses cassette tapes?" he asked himself, he decided maybe it wouldn't hurt to listen to them.
After all, he had a taste for old music. He went to the basement and grabbed his father's old tape player. He went back upstairs and grabbed his beats headphones, he plugged them into the headphone jack of the cassette player.
Hesitantly, he put in the cassette tape. He was worried that it was probably a death threat or he owed money to someone. But he was far off, way off. Then he pressed play...
"Hey it's Y/n. Y/n Y/l/n."
"Holy shit!" he quickly flinched at the sound of her voice and took off his headphones and press pause. It was so weird hearing it after her death. He was really confused, was she still alive? Maybe. Hesitantly again, he pressed play and put back on his headphones.
"That's right. Don't adjust your...whatever device you're hearing this on. It's me, live and in stereo. No return engagements, no encore, and this time, absolutely no requests. Get a snack. Settle in. Because I'm about to tell you the story of my life. More specifically, why my life ended. And if you're listening to this tape you're one of the reasons why.
I'm not saying which tape brings you into the story. But fear not, if you received this lovely little box, your name will pop up. I promise. Anyway, the rules here are pretty simple. - There are only two. Rule number one: you listen. Number two: you pass it on. Hopefully, neither one will be easy. It's not supposed to be easy, or I would have emailed you an MP3.
When you're done listening to all 13 sides, because there are 13 sides to every story rewind the tapes, put them back in the box, and pass them on to the next person. Oh, and the box of tapes should have included a map. I'll be mentioning several spots around our beloved city.
I can't force you to visit them, but if you'd like a little more insight, head for the stars. Or you know, just throw away the map and I'll never know or will I? You see, in case you're tempted to break the rules, understand I did make a copy of these tapes, and I left them with a trusted individual who, if this package doesn't make it through all of you, will release these copies in a very public manner. This was not a spur of the moment decision. Do not take me for granted. Not again."
Jungkook had enough, it was all too creepy and fucked up for him to listen more. His dead girlfriend was talking on cassette tape for goodness sake! He called up his best friend, Yoongi. He knew he'd be the only one who'd understand.
He rang a couple of times and then he finally answered. Yoongi was a mechanic, it was a family business. He lived on the other side of town, he got into some gang business and had been in juvie for quite a while. For some reason, Jungkook never seemed to be afraid of him.
"Hello?" Yoongi said over the phone
"Hyung, these cassette tapes came in the mail and I decided to listen to them, the next thing you know Y/n is speaking on the tape. I-I don't know what to do."
"Jungkook, just listen to the tapes. You have to listen to the tapes." he said in a calm tone.
"But I can't hyung, it's too traumatizing," Jungkook complained.
"Goddamn it Jungkook, just listen to the damn tapes okay? Look, I have to go. I'll see you at school tomorrow." he said
"Wait-" it was too late, he hung up the phone.
Jungkook knew that Yoongi was right, if he wanted more information he has to listen to the tapes. He sighed and put his headphones on, he pressed play and listened closely to what she was going to say next.
"Let's begin shall we?"
"Kim Taehyung, welcome to your tape."
