Neva finds herself pinned against the wolf and the raging river. She snarls with fury as the other wolf leaps at her. She barks her fiercest, but it does little to deter the bravery of the rival, and with much force, the other wolf charges at her.

Neva feels the ground below her fail, and braces herself for the fall.

Suddenly, though, she is pushed by some other force and tumbles onto the land. Recovering quickly, she finds Wisconsin in the river. He seems to struggle, and remembers London's words.

"That's Wisconsin. He's big and burly, but he doesn't have great speed or stamina- he tires rather quickly."

Neva leaps in after him- a wolf never disbands her pack. He saved her, it was her turn to save him.

Wisconsin struggles against the current, but Neva let's the current guide her to Wisconsin.

"Sorry!" She barks, and grabs Wisconsin's ear. "Let me guide you!" She says with a muffled voice. Wisconsin listens, and gives in to fighting the current.

She lets the river take her, until she sees a small inlet where some extra water deposits. She kicks hard, forcing herself in the direction. She grows tired, but knows she cannot fail, and adrenaline surges though her.

She finally hits the river bank, and when she does, passes from exhaustion.

~Much Later~

"Neva!" Barks Wisconsin. Her eyes slowly open. Her vision starts blurry, but comes into focus. She doesn't bother to get up.

"W-Where... where are we?" She asks, still resting.

"I'm not sure myself." He says, looking around.

Neva finally forces herself up, her legs wobbling.

"We should get back to the others." She says once steady.

He shakes his head. "No need."

"What, why?" Neva is confused, why would he abandon his pack?

"They're gone. They went down fighting..." He said with a sigh.

Neva felt her world fall apart. London- He was so kind to her. He let her eat, and they spoke regularly. It was nice to have a friend to spill out her life to. Even Adana, whom she despised! While rough, she was loyal enough to the pack to die for her cause- she could have went back to the Druids.

Neva released a mourning howl into the night's air. Wisconsin joined, and their breath was frozen in  the cold air. They held the mourning call for as long as they could.

"...So, where to now?" Neva asked her only living companion. He looked around.

"Right here." He said.

"Huh?" Neva Asked, confused.

"It's unclaimed. We could start a pack here." Wisconsin Began.

Neva nodded. "Wisconsin..."

"Yes?"

"Will you be my mate?" She asked, nuzzling him gently.

"Of course, Neva." He said, giving her a soft lick on the ear.

The newlywed couple played under the moonlight, forgetting the troubles that lie ahead, forgetting their worries and losses. It didn't matter to them at that time- they were happy, and pranced around like pups. The hard life of a wolf was forgotten momentarily. Barks of joy filled the sky as the ran around the snowy plains.

This was the reward for Neva's hardships. Joy like never seen before, love like never felt before. This, this was a journey's end.

Ahh! That's the end guys! I hope you enjoyed! I know the story was fairly short, but I never intended for it to be long. I'm going to write an epilogue, and then we will be on to the sequel (possibly)- thanks for tagging along with me on my first journey- my first book on Wattpad! Best of luck and wishes, xGreenWolfx
