Mother's House of Horrors - Monster Inside

Maggie Rose

Lilyana sits slouched on the old, beat up sofa in the living room, a newspaper in hand. 

The recent disappearance of  thirteen-year-old Maggie Rose...

"Looks like she is still missing..." Lily mutters.

"What was that dear?" An older woman walks through the living room door. She holds a mug of steaming hot tea. Lilyana sets the newspaper on the couch.

"Nothing, Mother. I was just leaving for school," she quickly stands and makes her way to the front door, picking up her book bag in the process, "things to learn, places to go you know?" Her mother gives a warm smile.

"Of course my sweet Lily." Before her sentence was finished, Lily was out the door and on the sidewalk heading to her school. 

School. A place unlike many other places in her life, she loved. Why this was so? It's better to keep it a mystery. 

"Hey Lils!" A loud, very annoying voice shouts at Lilyana from the distance.

"Not him again," she mutters. The footsteps from behind grow louder.

"Flatcakes! Wait up!" A hand finds itself on her shoulder, stopping her in her tracks. She turns to face the annoying creature.

"What do you want, Darius? Wren not talking to you?" There was an awkward pause as Darius thought of what to say.

"What? No... I mean... I LIKE DEVIN! I mean... Wren is hot?" Lilyana rolls her eyes, "Whatever. I wanted to ask you something, though."

"And what would that be?"

"Have you read the news lately?" Lilyana scoffs.

"You of all people should know I always read the news-" Darius tries to speak but Lily stops him, "-and before you say anything: Yes. I know about Maggie Rose disappearing. No. I do not know where she went. And yes. I am going to find out why." Darius smiles, "No you can't help me."

"But WHY NOT???" Darius whines. 

"Maybe because you don't have even the slightest idea on.. oh.. well.. pretty much anything." He holds his chest as if attacked.

"Ouch. You're words pierce the depths of my soul."

"I'm just gonna go ahead and say you found that line on the internet," Lilyana crosses her arms. Darius looks at pebble that has now "caught" his attention.

"No...." Lilyana stares at him, "... Siri gave it to me...." She scoffs.

"Same difference." With that, Lily turns on her heel, heading to school... and away from the annoying brat.

"Wait! Come back! Lils! Don't leave me here! I can help!" The shouting slowly becomes softer as the distance between the two grows, "F.L.A.T! Booper! White Girl! Lily Lils!" Lilyana waves behind her, "I'm going to help you one way or another! You need me!!!!!!!!!"

"Whatever you say Darius! Whatever you say!" And with that. The craziest day of her life has begun.
