A powerful wind blew and all of the remaining pages of his book left his hands. There were about 20 pages and they all landed face down except for one, Adrian’s angel. He reached down to pick it up and found it was guarding a lucky face-up penny. While examining it he found it was red on one side. Adrian slipped it into his pocket. He looked behind him to try and find the other pages and saw three hooded and masked figures. He suspected who they were but he never got the chance to confirm his theory. He ran, leaving the pages far behind him. The three followed close behind him, their laughs echoing off of the empty street. Their feet pounding on the ground made Adrian run faster and faster but he had reached his top speed. It was dark by this time and the only light source was the occasional street lights overhead. The pursuers caught up and had pinned him to a brick wall right under a light. He screamed out for help, but nothing. The boys were laughing more intensely now, evil and echoing laughter. Adrian struggled for freedom but it was no use. Out of the corner of his eye he saw a silhouette close the curtains within the safety of its house. Even without knowing this person Adrian felt betrayed. With glassy eyes he screamed as loud as he could, still with no rescuer. A boy with a crying clown mask on pulled a bottle of bleach out from under his jumper. Adrian was panicking and flailing but the other two boys were strong and kept him still. The teary clown poured the bleach over his head drenching him; he could feel the stinging in his eyes. He was blinded. The pain grew more intense the longer it stayed there. Adrian spat at the ground trying to clear the bleach from his mouth. He had felt more pain than he had ever felt before, but was to come was so much worse. Adrian heard a click and he howled in pain. The boys had loosened their grip on him and he fell to the ground, writhing. Fire had engulfed his body and his skin was blistering. Adrian didn’t know what to do but thrash and yell out. He never had his saviour.
