Chapter 31: helplessly in love
✖️✖️✖️
It had been exactly 2 days since Millie last spoke to her friends, including Finn. The last two days were awful. She wasn't angry anymore but upset that her friends were hiding something from her.
The past two days Millie spent it by avoiding her friends. She stayed in the library during lunch reading a Harry Potter book, and during classes she didn't speak to them. She couldn't lie, she missed them. She missed them terribly but she knew if she brushed it off, the secrecy was going to continue.
The school didn't fail to notice the awkward aurora between the six friends. It was strange to see the once happy loud group be so quiet. They moped around the hallway staring at Millie hoping she would forgive them.
Valentine had quickly made friends the next day. After the dinner on Tuesday night with the Browns, Millie learned that the Owens were one of the most important families in Hawkins, in fact Mr. Owens was the one to nominate Mr. Brown to run for Mayor.
Millie and Valentine got along fine but it wasn't anything like a friendship, It felt forced for some reason. So the next day at school Valentine started to hang out with some 'old friends' that being Jaeden and Iris. Valentine still said hi to Millie when they passed each other in the halls but that was about it.
It was now Thursday night, and Millie was at home snuggled up by the fire place reading her choice of the evening book, 'Harry Potter and the goblet of fire', till the door bell rang. She groaned getting up from the couch not looking away from her book. She was just getting to her favorite part.
Once she finished the paragraph she opened the door with the book still open in her hand. "Hey.. Can we talk?" Finn said in a low voice.
Millie stood in front of the door holding her book in hand. She was dressed in a pair of silk navy blue pajamas, with her hair tied into a lose bun. She was wearing créame slippers, and her glasses. Finn thought she'd looked beautiful.
"Uh.. yea." She said opening the door wider for him to come in but he shook his head. "Actually.. can we go somewhere?" He asked.
Millie looked down at her choice of outfit. "Okay.. let me go change first." She said getting ready to run up the stairs but Finn grabbed her hand.
"No. You look beautiful." Finn said smiling. Millie looked down at their hands intertwined. She smiled softly. She really missed his touch.
She looked up meeting his dark brown eyes. Oh how she dearly missed staring into them. But she looked away and nodded. "Okay."
