Queen Anne almost miscarried in January but luckily the baby was not lost. However in May 1536 not one baby was born but 2! A Prince of Wales, Prince George and a Duke of York, Prince William. A week later the queen died from childbirth.
July 1536
Lady Mary Tudor returned to court for the first time in 10 years. A month earlier she opened a letter from the deceased Queen Anne only to find out her father was to blame for her misery. She signed the oath and was given Hudson and her own staff as well as Queen Anne's dresses and jewels since they were the same size.
September 1536
A pageant and feast was created for Princess Elizabeth's third birthday. Mary volunteered to play perseverance. The one who played her fathers role was none other than Henry Howard, Earl of Surrey. They ended up talking and found they had a lot in common.
November 1536
King Henry announced his engagement to Jane Seymour in early November and in late November they married. At the same time Henry Howard started courting Mary.
December 1536
The king created Mary the Countess of Richmond after her great grandmother Henry VII's mother Margaret Beaufort.
