Rue- "Rue?" (Part 3)

It had been over a month since I had last spoken to Rue, I had started to hang with Lexi, Cassie and Maddy more. I'd like to say that they had help me get out my shell more and get over Rue. Don't get me wrong I still miss her but it is what it is. Rue had message me more over the last couple of days but I knew it was only because Jules had left leaving her by herself. I sat on my bed finishing the last bit of my makeup before getting up and checking myself out and messaging Maddy that I was ready. Tonight McKay was throwing a party while he was back from college, so Maddy and Cassie decided to drag me and Lexi with them. I grabbed my jacket before walking down the stairs and towards the front door quickly yelling goodbye to my parents and brother. I stood outside waiting for Maddy's car to eventually pull up, it didn't take long.

"Wow look at you bitch" Maddy smiled as I got in the backseat with Lexi. I rolled my eyes before giving her the middle finger which she just laughed at with Cass. "You are seriously going to have people begging to be with you" I shook my head at Maddy's statement.
"She right y/n" Cassie looked over her shoulder at me.
"I'm just going to this party to have some fun not to hook up with someone" I looked from Cassie to Maddy trying my hard to keep a stern expression.
"Okay" they both said, Cassie more sympathetic then Maddy. I looked over at Lexi who just gave me a semi forced smile. Maddy started the car up and started the drive towards McKays house.

McKays wasn't far from me, actually him and my brother used to be best friends and spent the summer hanging out together but that all changed when they both got to high school. When we arrived you could tell that it was already full by how many people were outside.
"I can tell this night is going to be epic" Maddy said throwing her arm over me and Cassie laughing.
"I agree" Cassie placed her hand in Maddy's as we walked towards the front door. I untangled myself from Maddy so that I could open the door. I opened the door and was hit by a heat wave, I couldn't tell whether this was because how cold it was outside or how warm it was inside due to the amount of people.
"Let's party!" Maddy yelled pushing her way in dragging us with her. We decided to hit the kitchen first to grab drinks which is where we lost Cassie to McKay. Maddy was the next to leave heading towards the dance floor to piss Nate off who was dancing with a tall blonde girl.
"I'm going to see if I can find Kat!" Lexi yelled at me over the music, I nodded my head as I had my back against the wall waiting multiple students grind up against each other.

A few more minutes passed when I heard a disturbance that grabbed my attention.
"What they he'll!" I turned to see with Red hair stood up, her top completely soaked. In front of her stood Rue who didn't seem to be taking the situation seriously, she had a smile on her face and looked like she was on the brink of laughing.
"My bad" she covered her hand with her mouth before walking out to the back garden. I looked back at the red head who just let out a frustrated huff before marching away. I placed my cup down and made my way out the back to find Rue.

The back yard was exactly like the inside, packed. I walked around a bit before I finally found her. She was sat in a couch with Fez a joint in her mouth.
"What the hell" I said walking over to the pair looking from her to Fez.
"Hey, I didn't give it her" Fez defended himself.
"Yeah whatever" I moved my gaze from him to Rue who was sat there still smoking it. "Rue" I clicked my fingers I front of her face but she doesn't respond. I let out a sigh before grabbing the joint from her, which surprisingly wasn't that hard to do.
"What the hell" she looked at me as I threw the joint on the floor and squishing it under my foot.
"I thought you were supposed to be sober" I crossed my arms looking down at the girl. She just shrugged resting her head against the couch. "Come one we're taking you home" I reached over grabbing her arm pulling her up.
"I don't want to go home" she whined, she was completely high and drunk. "My moms going to kill me" she carried on talking as I lead her out the party.
"She just wants what's best for you" I didn't look back I just carried on to the front door dragging Rue behind me. Rue didn't say anything as we got outside. I let out a sigh as I made my way to the curb forcing Rue to sit down on it before pulling my phone out and ordering an Uber.

"The uber should be here in five minutes" I looked down at her, she was just playing with the laces on her shoes refusing to look up. I shook my head before taking a seat next to her not saying anything. A few seconds passed before Rue finally spoke up.
"I'm sorry" I looked at her, she looked upset. I shrugged looking back a head.
"It is what it is" I pushed a hair out the way.
"No I should never have dropped you for Jules" she said.
"Yeah" I pulled my knees closer wrapping my arms around them.
"I'm a horrible person. I know you would have never done anything like that to me" I looked over at her and again she was looking at the ground.
"Your not a horrible person" she looked up then at me.
"I am" she argued I just shook my head.
"You liked her, you can't help that. I mean it was a bit of a dick move cutting me off but the way you felt about her is the way I felt about you" I rested my head on my knees looking up at her.
"Felt?" She questioned. I didn't say anything I just looked away, I had no idea how I feel about Rue now but I know I don't want anything bad to happen to her.
"I don't know, I just don't want anything bad to happen to us and if you keep in this path Rue your going to overdose again and you might not be that lucky this time" I replied trying to be caring and stern at the same time. Rue didn't say anything.

After another minute the Uber finally pulled up.
"It's time to go" I stood up offering my hand out to help Rue up, she smiled taking it. After helping her up I made my way over to the Uber and opening the door getting in followed by Rue. After a quick ride we finally pulled up at my house.
"This isn't my house" Rue looked at me.
"Yeah I know, like you said if you mom saw you like this she'd kill you" I laughed opening the door and getting out thanking the Uber driver. "Come on" I smiled walking to my front door and opening it. The house was dead, I knew my parents were probably in bed and my brother was most likely up in his room. I placed my keys on the side before making my way to the stairs helping Rue up them. We finally reached my room without Rue falling over or breaking anything. I pushed the door opening allowing her inside. She seemed to take the room in like it was the first time that she was seeing it. I walked over to my wardrobe and grabbed some clothes for Rue to change into.
"You get changed in here and I'll get changed in the bathroom" I held my clothes in my hand before walking out and towards the bathroom. I took my time getting changed and wiping my makeup off. I left the bathroom and made my way back to the bedroom knocking lightly before opening it. As I entered I saw Rue sat in my bed looking at the picture frame from my bedside table.
"I'm surprised you still have this" she held it up. It was a picture of me and Rue from our first day freshman year, the both of us looked so young, not a care in the world. I didn't say anything I just walked over taking the picture from her and placing it back on the bedside table.
"Where your phone?" I asked. Rue reached over to the bedside table grabbing her phone and handing it to me. I unlocked it and went to the messages, there were about thirty unread messages to Jules. I resisted the urge to read them, I scrolled down till I reached Gia's name and messaging her to let her know Rue was staying here and to let their mom know that.
"Okay time for bed" I sighed placing her phone back on the table before walking over to the empty space and getting into the bed. A few minutes of silence passed before Rue broke it.
"I am really sorry y/n" I didn't say anything I just carried on looking at the ceiling. "I hope we can go back to being friends at least" I took in a breath before replying.
"Sure"
