The next day was our first full day. People were put into classes based on their rank and grade, and certain ranks had lunch together. E and D had lunch together. C was all by themselves. Finally, B and A dined with each other. After David learned this, he was relieved. Though, he wasn't exactly sure why. When people got off the bus, they went to the cafeteria until the bell rung, signalling to go to first period.
"Jessica, what is our first class," David asked once they were in the cafeteria.
"Um... looks like it's science class," she answered.
"I wonder if this is gonna be like middle school," David said.
"I highly doubt it," Jessica told him.
"Why?" he asked.
"First off, everyone here has super powers," she explained.
"That makes sense," David commented.
She continued, "And, second off, there is always more drama in high school".
"I don't get it," David said at length.
"What?" she asked.
"Is there more drama because our bodies are changing," he started. "Or because people just get weirder as they get older."
There was a pause. "I'm not quite sure," she replied. Just then, the bell rung.
Once everyone had sat down in science class, the teacher introduced himself. "I am professor Simon Armstrong," he told the class. Someone raised their hand. "Yes?"
"Why are you called Armstrong?" a girl asked.
"Why?" he replied. An extra pair of arms came out of his back. "Does this answer your question?" he asked. A chorus of ohs and aahs went through the room. "Now, today we will be making heat rays. Feel free to use your powers to assist you." Someone else raised their hand.
"Isn't the military the only people with that kind of technology?" a boy asked.
"Where do you think that they get that technology?" the professed said in answer. He then handed out the parts using his four arms. "Now be careful with the power cores, they might..." he was cut off by a small explosion. "...do that." He looked at the source and saw that a kid had ash all over his face.
"Sorry," he replied.
"I'll just get you a new core," Simon said.
"No we still have ours," the kid informed him. The teacher gave him a weird look. "That was me."
"Of course," Armstrong said at length. "You may begin." David and Jessica were in a group.
"Ok, so... here is the frame," David said as he sorted the parts.
"Do you always sort things?" Jessica asked him.
"Yes," he answered as he finished. He carfully looked at the instructions. "Ok, so the trigger connects to the frame there." Jessica picked them up and tried to put them together but bent them.
"Oops," she replied.
"Um... we're going to need a trigger and a frame," David raised his hand.
Once they had finished, it was time to put in the core. David reached for it but pushed it off the table with his psychic powers. "Oh no!" he said as he reached for it. He grabed it with his telekinesis just in time. He let out a sigh of relief. Suddenly, he lost his grip on it and it fell to the floor, exploding. Ashes covered the backs of the people in front of him. "I am so sorry," he apologized as one of them turned around.
"It's quite alright," he answered. Air suddenly began to circle around him quickly, blowing the ash off.
The first group got finished. "Were done!" they both said simutaniously. There heat ray began to vibrate on the table. A burst of blue came out of the barrel, freezing them.
"Not quite," the teacher said.
When David and Jessica got done with it, they tested it on a metal block. "Whoa," Jessica said in awe.
"It's hot enough to melt metal," David said.
