She couldn't remember much, only excruciating pain then white. Nothing but bright white light.
When she came too it took a moment for her to realize where she was.
She was lying on the cellar floor. The elegant dress and elaborate body she'd so tediously built lying strewn across the floor.
The beautiful blue fabric of her mother's dress now soaked in mildew and torn to shreds.
The elegant body she's spent months putting together using spare parts and her own money to make now a jumble of wires and smashed metal.
Even if the damages weren't as bad as they looked, which she doubted they were, she still had no chance of putting it together without her arms. No chance of getting to the dance without them either.
It was a stupid dream, hoping she could get in at all.
Tears began to trail down her face. At least her tear ducts were still intact.
She stared up at what little of the window she could see. Praying for help. That someone would see her through the glass. Help her escape this shithole of a home.
Even if she didn't make it to the dance, didn't get to see the handsome servant boy again (or is he~), all she wanted was to be free.
"Are you sure that's all you want?"
She stiffened.
"W-what?"
"Not money, not fame, just to go to this dance and to be free?"
"M-more than a-anything."
"Thank Gods my job just got a whole lot easier."
Out of nowhere, a lady appeared in front of her. Beautiful, with a pink dress and a real, fully human body.
"H-How-"
"Did I get here? Sweetie, it's magic!" The woman says, leaning down to help prop the girl against a wall.
"W-what are you?"
"Me? I'm your guardian angel, but just call me Angel. Don't you worry Sugar, we're gonna get you too that ball."
"But what about-"
"Being free? Don't worry sweetheart, wouldn't want to ruin the fun!"
"But I can't get there, my body-"
"Sweetie, what don't you understand about magic?" She snapped her fingers and pink glitter started forming hands midair, picking up my strewn body and reattaching limbs.
"W-what- h-how-"
"Just let it happen darling~."
"A-Alright."
"Now, dress, I'm thinking blue? Hmmm...tight bodice, loose sleeves...make it a loose skirt too."
"A-Alright."
"Okay then, one pretty little dress for a pretty little girl."~~~~~~
"Now Sugar, remember, you have until 2."
"Two in the morning two?"
"No 2 minutes, of course two am!"
"But why 2?"
"Because 12 is boring. Go have fun. Talk to him, he's already seen you before. Oh, and don't you worry about everything disappearing, you're body will be fine, it's just the things I made out of thin air that won't."
"So my dress-"
"Will just turn back to it's less than perfect self. Oh and your shoes will be fine."
"Thank you so much, how can I ever repay you?"
"Sweetie, just be your perfect little self so I can keep on helping little ones like you."
"Thank you."
"You're welcome hon. Now, get a move on! You've got a dance to get too!"
