"Hello little one, you must be Jade, and you must be Jonathan." "Stay away from our children. You are not welcome." My father was furious. "What has she told you Marcus? Lies. It's all lies. Tell him the story of what really happened Julian." I was only two, but I could still see the evil in Valentines eyes, which were set directly on my mother.

Julian, Jade's mother, was just like her, Jade looked just like her, her long golden colored hair blowing in the wind and her baby blue eyes, bright as a newborn's. Even as she spoke, she was delicate, but strong, powerful, " I never did those things, it was all you."

Valentine launched himself forward as quick as a bullet. He grabbed me by the arm. My mom, scared half to death screamed not just in terror, but pain.

Valentine's voice is a voice that cannot be forgotten, "Tell them, or Jade is mine. You tell them what happened, how it was all you, not me or you'll never see your sweet, precious Jade again for as long as you live."

Jade woke up in pain. She thought it would have been because of her dream, but it was because she had fallen off of her bed onto the hard floor of her bedroom.

...or you'll never see your sweet, precious Jade again... Jade could not stop thinking of this line, of her mother's beautiful face, of her family giving her away like that. She also had another thought, who is Jonathan?

After Valentine had found no use in Jade, he dumped her off in an orphanage, giving her a second chance. She was adopted when she was five by Jacob and Rebecca Taylor. They have a son, who is the same age as Luna, named Jake. Jake was Luna's best friend, her closest friend.

Jacob had died later that year, leaving both Jake and Rebecca devastated and Jade unsurprised. Jacob had worked as a firefighter searching for every dangerous job he could. Sometimes, Jade had asked if he had a death wish and what he would say was "I do. I wish to die doing what I love. Saving people's lives, putting out fires. I want to die the hero."

After Jacob had died, Jade had made a friend from school. Well, sort of a friend. She was kind, sweet, and pretty. She had brown hair and was pretty short. She never mentioned her name though.

Jade-

I had met over twenty girls, but I finally met the right friend. She was taller than me. She has red pixie style hair, and because I read Divergent, she calls me dauntless. She is the only one who doesn't call me by my name.

We went to the same school luckily, but shes a year older than me.
