Do Legends Ever Sleep?

Long ago a Hero had appeared, there's not much known about him other than his blank flushed out eyes and his godlike aura. There was also a beast. This beast wasn't nearly as weak as a lion or bear, yet it was very similar to the two. The beast had escaped its "infinite" prison and had came to attack the village closest, that's when the the hero would appear. He'd fly up to the beast with his already mentioned qualities and would soon enough defeat the creature. Old folk would tell tales of this beast and his superior, it would soon enough become a prophecy, a legend, that once every 1000 years a beast would arise and the legendary hero that came with it? He was there too.

"Damn it! Why won't it work?!" Said a young man, he was about 13 or so.

"Royyyy! What's the hold up?!" Said another boy running across the field

"I can't light this thing!" Roy would say as he looked up at him

"Heh what can you do?" Said the boy, Roy would frown.

"I mean, you are the class clown and you do fail at mostly everything" Ben would continue.

"Not cool, Ben!" Roy would say as he placed the items in his backpack.

"I give up, we can try again tomorrow. Besides, it's getting late" Said Roy.

Ben wouldn't really care, he'd already be walking the path to his home. Roy would soon sprint past him laughing.

"You know, I've always been more physically capable!" Roy would shout from a distance.

Ben would look quite annoyed. "What does it matter if there's nothing behind the muscle?" He'd ask. By the time he finished his sentence Roy would be running through the village a few blocks ahead. He'd take his usual path home, going through dark alleys, passing by restaurants. When passing through one of those alleys he'd be stopped.

"Where do you think you're going, idiot" Said some mysterious figure. Another would appear behind him.

"Yeah, I heard he's the dumbest in our age group" Said the third.

The first would punch Roy in the mouth, knocking out a loose tooth. Roy was unable to do anything seeing how it was a 1v3 situation, besides that the second bully was holding him back so the rest can attack. A shadow would appear from the rooftop, at first Roy was unable to identify the figure but eventually he figured it out.

"You come now...but never to any family activities?" Roy would say to the hooded man.

"Well..I've been busy" He'd say after knocking out the three.

"I don't wanna hear it!" He'd end up saying that a little funny due to his missing tooth.

"I might swing by later for dinner...that's good right?" Said the hooded figure

"Yeah, yeah, I don't care anymore" By now Roy would be walking out of the alley way, he ran all the way back to his home where his mother had been doing the laundry.

She'd giggle a bit. "You sure do make a mess everywhere you go, Roy" She'd look at him with her head tilted slightly to the right, smiling.

"It's not like I try to, mom. It's just that everywhere I go someone is clowning me, for good reason too. I'm nothing more than a fool." Roy would have his head down, he was ashamed at the fact that his father, grandfather, and great grandfather all had good grades and were very competent folk, but he wasn't, he was just a mook.

"Well, you aren't going to get any better looking down on yourself. You need to accept who you are, no matter how dumb or how stupid people think you are." She'd grab a brush and would start scrubbing a burgundy colored scarf.

"You know....this was your fathers.." She'd hold up the scarf for Roy to see. It was pretty ugly, though it had no patterns, it obviously wasn't knitted by a professional.

"Your grandmother knitted this for him, so that whenever he felt alone or felt like he was going to give up, he'd take the scarf from around his neck and would tie it around his head. It's tradition, y'know. When it's dry, I want you to where it." She'd add on.

"Roy, your father was a legend, he worked hard. Never slept."
