Alice's POV

Today was the first so called scan. I had asked my friend and midwife, Eden's husband to make me some clay baby bumps to make it look more real, but I had a feeling that I was going to get found out today.

Eden, who has a child of her own, set up her old scan photos, and changed the name to mine. I was terrified, I'm really in over my head.

I was meeting Joe at the hospital in an hour which gave me chance to put my bump on.

Maybe I should quit whilst I'm ahead?

No, you can do this Alice.

. . .

I had my bump on and was ready to go. I pull up at the hospital. Eden had already checked me in, so I waited for Joe.

''Hey sorry I'm late. I stopped off and got something for the baby.'' He smiles. My heart hurts.

''Oh, you didn't have to do that.'' I sigh, I can't do this.

''Well I am the Dad, Alice. And I wasn't planning on it, but I couldn't help it.'' He laughs.

I need to tell him. ''Joe sit down, I need to tell you something.''

''Is everything OK?'' He asks.

''I lied.'' I say.

''You lied? About what?'' He looks at me.

''About the baby. There is no baby, look.'' I lift my top up, pulling the clay bump off.

He shakes his head. ''I don't understand...''

''I faked it, I needed a plan to keep you. I was jealous, OK? I thought if I faked a pregnancy, you'd stay with me.''

''Did you seriously think I wouldn't find out? I mean, what would you of done around your so called due date? Steal a baby?'' He shakes his head.

''No, I was going to marry you then say I'd miscarried.'' I admit.

''You are sick, Alice. I can't believe you.'' He glares at me, before walking out.

I feel horrible right now.

Joe's POV

I am furious. Why would anybody do that?

I was quite excited about being a Dad and now it was taken away from me. Just like that.

I unlock the door to my Penthouse, seeing Di still asleep. Bless her.

I decide to make us breakfast, seems as I didn't eat as I was too nervous.

I cook Dianne's favourite smashed Avocado on toast, and do myself some poached eggs.

Just as I'm about to plate up and take Di's upstairs, I feel petite arms wrap themselves around my waist. I smile and turn around.

''Morning, beautiful.''
''Morning, you. I thought you were at the hospital?'' She asks.

I sigh. ''I'll explain after breakfast.'' She nods.

. . .

''I can't believe she would do that. I thought Alice was better than that. I'm sorry bub, I know you were excited.'' Dot pouts.

''Hey, its OK. I guess its a blessing in disguise I suppose. I mean I did tell you I wasn't ready, so yeah. But, I couldn't help but picture the baby in mind. Would they be a boy or girl? What we would call them. Who they would look like. Etc.''

''I know, Joe. And I know you'll make an amazing Dad one day, I have no doubt about that. Try and keep your chin up, one day it'll happen.'' She smiles.
