When Alexis entered the apartment, she was greeted with One Direction's 'C'mon C'mon' being blasted in the living room.

She walked into the commotion and couldn't help the grin that broke out across her face as she watched Nate scream the lyrics into an empty beer can.

When he noticed her, instead of stopping, he sang louder if that was even possible, and more dramatically.

Laughing at his antics, she joined him.

When the song was over, she was doubled over on the couch and breathless.

He paused whatever song was queued, and collapsed beside her.

"Thanks," she said, turning to look at him?

"For what?" he asked, his eyes meeting hers.

"I had a really shitty day, and this made it ten times better."

Concern clouded his eyes, but he replied playfully.

"Only ten times?"

"Okay, fine. Eleven."

He gave her a genuine and toothy grin that warmed her from the inside. All the shitty things that happened that day seemed to wash away as she continued to look hold his gaze.

He's so close, she thought. Suddenly she had the urge to kiss him, to glance at his lips then ask with her eyes. But she didn't. He had a girlfriend and she didn't want to make things weird. Closing her eyes and leaning forward, she enveloped him in a tight hug.

"Whoa," he chuckled.

"Thank you," she said again.

"Anytime Alex," he replied, squeezing her back.

She'd never admit it, but she was lonely. Nate's hug felt like home, it reminded her that there was at least someone she could rely on when she needed warmth.
