The bright overhead lights came to light suddenly, the brightness waking the Grays. Luna opened her eyes groggily, groaning as her head twinged. She guessed that the drugs the doctor had injected her with had worn off. She rolled onto her side, facing the wall, and pulled the thin blanket over her face.
Liam's eyes burned at the lights, and he yawned. He been been watching the darkness by his estimate for about eight hours. His eyes stared at the door, which promptly clicked open, and Dr. Kray walked through. He wore another lab coat, and a gray sweater underneath.
"Good morning children. If you will follow me please." Dr. Kray said, though his face gave nothing away. Liam was the first to slip out of his bunk, and Luna was one of the slowest. She had never been much of a morning person. Luna knew that she looked like a mess, so she attempted to brush her hair with her fingers. She stayed far away from Liam as the doctor herded them from the room. Luna walked beside Kray, hoping to learn something from him.
"Excuse me sir, but where are you taking us?" Luna asked politely, causing the doctor to glance her way.
"To get you dressed and fed." He replied before stopping in front yet another identical door. Another pass-code later, and Luna led the way into what looked like a gigantic wardrobe. The room was separated into gender specific clothing, and fitting rooms were stacked on top of each other against the far wall. Luna wasn't sure how you could reach the top dressing room, but she was quickly distracted by the clothing racks.
Since Luna went to a private school, she was almost always in a uniform. It felt good for her to be able to pick out clothes. The clothes were mostly tunics and tight pants and shirts."Ladies and gentlemen, please take a moment to pick out new clothing. These clothes will be used for your training sessions, classes, and working." Dr. Kray said, before sitting down in a small chair by the door. Luna eagerly moved through the clothing racks, picking out an armful of options. When she had finished, Luna walked over the the fitting rooms. The ground floor ones were full, so Luna climbed up a narrow stairway between the fitting rooms, to an unoccupied dressing area. She tried on almost all of the clothes in her selection, before settling on an outfit. Comfortable black leggings, an icy blue tunic that matched her eyes. She added a black belt to her ensemble, before exiting the room barefoot, her uniform in hand, along with her other garments.
She put her uniform in a large bin labelled "Old Clothes," in about a dozen different languages. After returning the extra clothes back to the racks, Luna went over the shoe rack. Whereas the clothes varied in color and style, the shoes were all the same. Made of a sturdy black leather, the boots had wonderful grip, and went up nearly to Luna's knees. She wasn't very tall, but the boots had a bit of a heel, which made her happy. She sat on the floor next to Kray, and waited for the rest of her new classmates to finish dressing themselves. Liam stood against a wall, arms crossed, dressed in ripped jeans, a tight white shirt, and a wicked leather jacket. He wore similar boots to Luna's. Luna thought that he looked even more intimidating when he wasn't dressed in his boyish school uniform.
The rest of the kids soon gathered around, and they left the wardrobe room. Dr. Kray led them down another identical hallway, which opened to a large cafeteria made purely out of stainless steel. Several buffet tables lined the entire circumference of the circular room. Kray led them to the beginning of the food line. Luna grabbed a plate, one of the first in line. Since there was no one else in the lunch room, Luna moved easily through the food choices. There was four main sections: a salad bar, fruits and vegetables, protein, and a drink section. Luna helped herself to a heap of salad, a side of dried fruits, and a water glass. She sat down at a small round table, on the far side of the cafeteria.
