Some days, Jack and Brooklyn would play hide and seek.
The smaller boy was really good at this game---no matter how hard the Irish boy tried, Brooklyn would always somehow sniff him out and find him.
"Found you!" Brooklyn giggled with glee as his sharp, olive eyes found Jack's hiding place once more.
The curly boy groaned, as he moved out of his covert, which was behind the already open back door. He honestly thought that he would succeed this time, snickering quietly as he watched through the creaks.
He watched Brooklyn walking past the door thrice, and yet, the smaller brunette's eyes somehow discovered Jack, still.
"Ugh, I hate this game," the tall curly-haired boy sulked, grumpily trudging his way through and sat on the porch. He huffed a frustrated sigh as he felt the other boy making a move to sit beside him as well.
"You hate it because you suck at hiding," Brooklyn stuck his tongue out playfully, making Jack shove him at his chest. "Ouch!"
The curly-headed chuckled a bit, "You deserved that. And in my defense, it's not that I suck at hiding, it's just that you're really good at sniffing me out." Brooklyn laughed loudly at that.
"No, seriously. You're too good at hide and seek, let's not play that anymore," Jack declared with finality, making the laughing boy halt in his laughter.
"Aw, come on, Jack. You're not stooping that low as a sore loser, are you?" The older brunette teased playfully, but the Irish boy only looked at him pointedly.
"Okay, fine. No more hide and seeks, I promise." And to fortify this vow, the two children made their own, secret infamous handshake.
One palm out, while the other's hand held into it, shaking them together, release, raising both to clap together two times and finally, locking them into a pinky promise.
The two boys smiled at one another as their pinky fingers intertwined.
"But, seriously, how do you do that, Brooklyn?" The smaller brunette tilted his head slightly, confused.
"What do you mean by how do I do what?" The Irish boy stifled a snort at his mate's puzzlement.
"I mean, what's your secret to hide and seek?"
The smaller brunette broke their pinky promise, placing a tapping finger on his chin as he thinks, "First, find a playmate who can't hide that well."
Jack smacked him on his arm harshly, making Brooklyn giggle while wincing slightly.
Brooklyn stopped laughing after a few seconds, and finally, glanced at the Irish boy with a sincere look.
"There's no secret really. I'm just too afraid to lose you I guess, that's why I just have to find you."
Jack couldn't suppress the smile that's breaking through his face.
He has such a sappy friend.
