Jawn :- The Game

           The Squirrels came running into Jawn's cave. She was fast asleep already but their noise woke her up. It angered her because she had just managed to fall asleep.

"Awful timing guys, I just shut my eyes to get some sleep" she muttered.

"It play time, let's go" The oldest squirrel said as he pulled Jawn's hand.

"Am weak and very tired at this moment,I need to rest.Besides, today is a free day." She said as she yawned loudly."

"Let's go have some fun Sissy." The youngest said as it moved closer to her.

"My name is Jawn not Sissy."

"When did that change? You were Sissy yesterday and now John. John? John?? That's a male name and not a female so better stop dreaming." The oldest replied in laughter.

She hit her hand on her head in anger. "It's 'Jawn' and not 'John'. That was the same thing Papa said when I told him. You guys are beginning to get on my nerves." She said as she laid down to catch some sleep.

The Squirrels were confused with her change of name. They left her and went to meet Zyne who was busy sharpening his sword.

"Zyne, what wrong with Sissy?" The third squirrel asked.

"JAWN! Not Sissy." She screamed out from the cave in frustration.

Zyne looked back at her and smiled. "She decided to change her name. I tried to convince her but you guys know how stubborn she is."

"That weird Zyne, think again. It's abnormal for a young girl like her to decide to change her name without a reasonable reason. Did she tell you why she decided to change it?" The oldest whispered as he walked to Zyne's sword.

Zyne looked at the squirrels and looked back at Jawn. He thought about what the oldest said and dropped his sword. "You sound sensible for the first time."

The other squirrels burst out in mad laughter which made the oldest angry. "Is it funny?" He shouted in anger.

The all kept quiet at the same time but had a mocking look on their face. Jawn got frustrated by their noise and ran out angrily. "You disturbing me!" She screamed out in anger.

"Stop screaming please. You want us to be quiet and you are screaming." Zyne shunned her with a mean look.

"You are disturbing my peace. Find some better place to discuss than disturbing me over here. I won't come out to warn you guys again." She screamed again and walked back in angrily.

"What will you do if we don't stop, silly short girl." The youngest squirrel said mockingly.

"I heard that, be careful."

Zyne was already frustrated by her noise already, so he got up and walked down the cave. The squirrels followed hitting each other to walk faster. Zyne was confused already as he kept thinking about what the oldest squirrel said.

"Where is Div?" He asked in a gentle tone.

"No one can predict Div's movement. He might be in the jungle or down in the city." The oldest answered as he ran to Zyne's side.

"Lower your voice, have you forgotten Jawn must not know about the city or human. Be careful, so you don't cause any disaster." Zyne warned angrily.

The squirrels we're silent for a while as they watch Zyne walk around. They knew he was already angry and not in a better mood to talk. Zyne kept looking at the sky as if he was expecting something. Div's funny voice cut the silence as everyone shunned him to keep his mouth shut in other not to wake Jawn.

"John? Who is John?" Div asked as he land on the tree beside Zyne's cave.

"It Jawn not John, Sissy's new name." The youngest squirrel shunned again.

"Forget it, I need you to do something for me." Zyne said she he gave Div a sign to come down from the tree.

Div landed on his shoulder and ask for the favor Zyne needed. Zyne whispered to it ear silently and put the squirrels in suspense.

"Game!" Div said with a silly smile.

"What game? Do you want to buy game?" The third squirrel asked anxiously.

Zyne and Div looked at the squirrels with a mocking look and got the squirrels angry. The squirrels also looked at each other and laughed as they walked away boastfully. Zyne was confused about their actions and thought they heard what he told Div. He looked at them as they walked away while Div flew away as well.

        Jawn walked out yawning as she awake from her long sleep. She noticed everywhere was quiet and no one was around. She got worried and started calling for Zyne and Div but no one answered. She walked down in hurry and looked at the tree beside their cave to see if Div was asleep or hiding but no one was their. Her worries grew bigger as she walked down the jungle calling names but got no reply.

"Where have they all gone to without me?" She asked as tears drop from her eyes. She thought they were angry with her because she yelled at them. She was still walking when she saw a leaf with a write up on it.

"Turn left." She said as she read what was on the leaf. She turned left as read and walked down in anxious. She was still walking when she saw a snake coming towards her. She got scared at first when she saw it but later hissed when she saw it was a snake. The snake crawled nearer and raise it head up when it was directly facing Jawn. She looked at the snake again and decided to ignore it but the snake bit her right hand. She screamed and stepped back in fear. She was already bleeding and feeling dizzy. She could see the snake as it still raised it head like it was about to attack again. Soon, they became multiple surrounded her. She could see them all raise their head and crawl closer. She thought of Zyne was screamed in argony. Soon, Zyne came out from the way she took shouting Sissy and waving his hand for her to come towards him. Div came out from another angle shouting "Jawn come this way, it safe here." She looked at the both of them and ran out to Div. She followed as it flew towards the cave.

She was already weak and tired before they could get to the cave, so she collapsed and fainted.

        Jawn opened her eyes to see Zyne using a small cloth to cover the wound. She could still feel the pain but not as hard as before. She cried and turned her face blank on Zyne's lap. Zyne smiled as he rubbed his hand on her back gently.

"It was a game." Zyne confessed as rubbed her back.

"What?"

"The snake attack was all a game. I planned it with Div just to know how serious you are with your new name."

She stood up gradually looking angry. "You set a snake as a game? What if I die at that moment?"

"You are still four, will be five soon so you have to learn to be strong and enduring. Don't worry, the snake wasn't that poisonous, it was just harsh." He said as he stood up to drop the water he used to wash her hand.

She got so angry and ran out of the house. She met Div coming towards the cave but ignored. She ran while crying and went up to the mountain. There she sat down and played song on her music player while crying.

Night fall and she never went home. She was still crying and watching the moon when Zyne came to sit beside her. He held her hand and apologized but she still didn't look at him. He watched her cry continuously without stopping for ones and felt guilty for making her cry. He apologized a many times but instead she stood up and walked away. He try to stop her but she was too stubborn for him.

She went back into their cave and laid down covering her self with her blanket. Zyne came back in some minute later to check on her but she was already fast asleep. He watched her cute face for a while before leaving the house to the city.

Woooooh.... I don't know how you all fine the story but I guess, you're not feeling bad about it.
