Robert traveled over to Reem's side with a syringe and slipped the needle into the IV. "We have two people right now supervising the monitors and computers. They'll notify us if anything wrong happens." Robert explained and finished pushing the dose into her IV. He looked at the camera directly. "But let it be in English, please."

There were a few chuckles.

"We're ready."

Robert rolled his blue surgeon gloves onto his hands. "I named my theory. It's called The Dream Theory." He said and faced the camera. "Today, I'll be the first in history to prove that dreams are not what we think they are, and that there's something more dwelling inside them."

The procedure began. Robert was feeling confident about this. He was going to prove those speculators wrong; especially Adam. Nothing could possibly intervene. He looked at his watch and counted the time. "1 minute and 5 seconds...10 seconds...15 seconds..."

"There's an error!" Someone announced. Robert looked up and clicked his watch.

"3 minutes." He grumbled as he scrambled past cables and went over to Reem's side. She was shaking, breathing heavily and her heart was beating rapidly. "Already? Give me a diagnostic."

"I-I don't know. There's no REM yet, but her full brain is active." One person informed and typed on the keyboard. The clicks were pissibg Robert off.

"I'm going to wake her up."

"I don't know if that's safe sir. There's a slight chance that disrupting her might trigger an epileptic episode."

"Epilepsy? Shit..." Robert was running out of time. He shut his eyes and whispered, "I'm sorry Reem."

The scene drifted off into a cloud of smoke. Erik felt a rush of dejá vu. What is this?

"This is of your doing."

Erik looked over his shoulder.

It was Robert. The real Robert. And in his hand he was holding...

"Reem's photo." Erik snarled softly and looked at Robert into the eyes.

"You remember now, don't you?" Robert said as he took a step forward. "You demon..."

Erik frowned deeply. "I'm human just like you."

"You lie. If you were human, you wouldn't be the one they would be going after." Robert growled and pointed off to one side. Erik followed his finger all the way to a group. The group of masked figures in his dream.

Erik stared down at Robert. "Too bad it had to go this way." He said, almost echoy and held out a hand to his own shoulder. He pressed his injury and growled in pain.

Robert watched in horror as he disappeared. Soon he followed his lead.

Erik woke up wheezing for air. Adam shot up from his spot. "Thank God you're awake." He said, eying him with concern. You had me worried there big guy."

"Where is Robert?" Erik asked. Adam's eyes widened, he didn't expect that to be his first word.

"He's being taken to the hospital. After that, they're going to take him to jail for assault." Adam explained, crossing his arms. His light blue button down shirt was drained in Erik's blood. Erik nodded. "Good. And where are we?"

"In an ambulance headed to the hospital. They had an inconvenience, hence the delay." Adam answered.

Erik scrunched up his nose. His mind was empty, nothing but his own voice filled up his head. Speaking for him instead of actually thinking about a response. "I looked through the articles. November 13, 1999. Does that ring a bell?"

Adam sharply inhaled, then slowly exhaled. As if it took him by surprise like a yank to the hair. "Yes. Yes it does." He said, dropping his eyes. "How?-"

"Robert. In his—my dream, I saw the truth clearly. He didn't kidnap my sister Reem for his project. She actually volunteered to be a part of it, didn't she?" Erik asked, observing Adam as his expression and posture changed. "You loved her but you were jealous that she spent more time with Robert than with you."

Adam looked away. "That's not true.."

"If it weren't why did you press charges against him?"

"He killed Reem!"

"Shut up! There was no other option but to disconnect her. Otherwise she would've lived to suffer from the nightmare she was having."

Adam snapped and punched the wall. The ambulance stopped. "There was a choice. Robert was just too selfish to see it."

Erik scoffed angrily. "No. You were the selfish one for keeping the record of the experiment and blaming him for the impossible."

The conversation ended at that. Angry stares and underbreath cursing. Erik felt his human self pass away the closer they got to the hospital. Questions arose inside of him. And the spoken truth began to make more sense.
