Chapter Forty-One: Friendly Neighborhood Spiderman
*Max's POV*
It all passed so fast. Days spent in class and nights spent with Blakely, they came and went like they were never even here. September slipped away like nothing, October nearly passing just as quickly. Waking up beside the most beautiful girl in the world never got old though, seeing her softly sleeping in my grip always a sight that made my stomach tight with butterflies. Sometimes I thought that sight would actually stop my heart, but it never did, thankfully. You'd think after three months of waking up like that I'd be used to it...
I wasn't.
Sometimes, laying with her late at night, listening to her telling me a story about her day, or just hearing her quietly mumble in her sleep, like she often did when she was exhausted... Sometimes I thought if I had to die right then, I'd go out happy. My only regret...
Not being able to marry her.

I slowly turned the corner into the kitchen, being super quiet. I smiled at the soft, beautiful singing that filled the air as Blakely stood at the stove, cooking whatever was making the house smell so damn good. Just what she was wearing, a simple long sleeved deep purple shirt with a bright red frilly scarf, with a well fitting pair of dark skinny jeans... It was enough to drive me crazy. My favorite colors... God she was gorgeous. I smirked as I crept up right behind her, remaining absolutely silent.
"Boo," I whispered in her ear, my arms quickly slipping around her waist. Her singing came to an abrupt halt as she jumped in my arms, startled and frightened by my sudden presence. I couldn't help but laugh as she pushed me off of her, turning and lightly shoving me.
"You're so mean to me!" she told me, crossing her arms and pouting slightly. I smiled at her, putting my hands on her waist and bringing her against me. She didn't react to my touch, obviously fighting her typical habit to put her arms around my neck, or to put her palms over my heart on my chest. She continued to frown at me, making me chuckle as I stared down at her lovingly. I slowly leaned forward and touched my lips to hers, kissing her softly. She couldn't help but react, kissing me back instantly.
She was smiling when I pulled away, her arms having come up around my neck, where they belonged. I chuckled, pressing my forehead to hers. Her eyes were still closed, her body warm against mine.
"Happy Halloween, beautiful," I told her lovingly, pecking her lips. She opened her eyes and grinned, her gorgeous blue eyes staring deeply into mine.
"Happy Halloween, baby," she said in response, pulling away and turning back towards the stove. I wrapped my arms around her waist, bending and resting my chin on her shoulder. I smiled, gently kissing her neck.
"Whatcha makin'?" I asked her, inhaling again. "It smells awesome."
She laughed lightly. "Chicken Alfredo," she answered, turning her head and kissing my cheek. I grinned, squeezing her waist.
"Perfect," I said. "We can eat and have time to watch one of our scary movies before kids start trick-or-treating."
She grinned. "Perfect," she agreed, reaching forward and flicking the stove off. I reluctantly stepped away, pulling out bowls as she gathered forks. I set the bowls by the stove, walking over to the fridge and pouring both of us glasses of sweet tea. When I turned around again, she was sitting at the table, my place set across from her as she took a bite of her food. She swallowed, smiling at me as I walked over and sat her glass next to her.
