Harper Harmony

Chapter 1

"BEEP, BEEP, BEEP" screamed the alarm clock. The young colt turned on his side to face the alarm clock, he shut it off and turned back over. All of the sudden the door to his bedroom swung open "GOOD MORNING SON!!" Exclaimed the cheerful father, "ITS YOUR FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!"
"Dad..." the colt whined "can't I just stay home? I'm tired."
"Tired? Son! It's your first day! You don't want to be late for school on the first day, you want to make a good impression on your teacher. I already have your breakfast ready and your travel pack, get up, go brush your teeth and get ready to go" The cheerful father used his magic to lift the blanket off of the sleepy colt, he shivered being exposed to the cool air. He sighed and got out of bed.

the young colt flew down the stairs after brushing his mane, tail, and teeth. "Dad I'm ready to-.." "Good morning blank flank" his sister said cutting him off. "Are you ready for your first day of nerd school?" She said taking a bite of her breakfast muffin. "It's not a nerd school Shining Star, it's a school for gifted Alicorns"
"HA!" She replied mockingly, "you can't even call yourself an Alicorn blank flank until you earn your wings, and you earn your wings by finding out what your gonna be the prince of! Mom and Dad are the KING AND QUEEN of the sky! They raise the sun and moon, and they say when my magic is super powerful I'm going to put the stars in the sky."
"That's only a rumour Shining.. you don't know that you-"
"Then why did mom and dad name me Shining Star?! I have my cutie mark and it clearly shows 5 stars with glowing magic around them! That's MY cutie mark, and your cutie mark is what your good at! I put one single star in the sky and POOF! There's my cutie mark. So you can't say 'that's just a rumour'" Shining Star said while putting her hooves up making air quotes. "Good Morning dears" came a voice from the other side of the room "Good morning mom!" Shining said with a cutie voice "How are you on this fine day?" "She's such a suck up" Harper thought to himself "I'm gonna go find dad" "Where ya going blan-.. I mean.. Harper" she said looking at her mother sweetly then back at Harper. "I'm going to find dad" "Well hurry up dear, you need to leave in 5 minutes!" His mother replied, "alright mom!" Harper said as he used his magic to open the door.

Harper searched around the garden before spotting his dad sitting outside on the grass "..hey dad?" He stood up and turned around, "Harpie! I'm glad to see your up! Are ya ready for school?"
"Yea but um.. can I ask you something dad?" Harper asked nervously, "sure Harper what's up?" He replied as he sat back down and patted the ground beside him. Harper walked over and sat beside his dad, "what am I supposed to do.. I bet everyone at the school has there cutie marks and I don't! Shining Star has hers, and she already knows what she's gonna be the princess of! What am I gonna do! I have no talent, no special things I can do.. I-"
"harper" his father said cutting him off "you will get your cutie mark, you might get it today! Shining Star just found what her talent is before you did. Besides! Your talent could be magic, you are very talented when it comes to magic"
"I already told you dad it's not me! My magic is only 'powerful' when I-"
"Harper!" His mother shouted across the yard, "it's time to go!"
"Okay!" Harper said back, he looked up at his dad, "I.. I guess we'll talk later"
His father nodded his head, Harper ran into the house to grab his travel pack. His mother walked up to his father and sat down beside him. "I'm worried about Harper" he said, "why?" She replied, "because if he doesn't have his cutie mark now.. everypony else has their cutie marks Sunny! What if he's.. I don't know.. what if he's just a Unicorn!" Sunny gasped "Moon Beam! How dare you say that about your child!" He stood up, "no cutie mark, no child of mine. If he doesn't have his cutie mark by the end of the year.. he is a disgrace to me, this family, and the Alicorn race. Without wings, you are not an Alicorn" "if you kick him out then I go too." Moonbeam looked at Sunny, she had tears in her eyes. "Come on sunny don't look at me like that! You know it's true. We are a respected family, we raise the sun, moon and soon enough the stars will be put in there place. Just like my father did.. your father was the king of Magic, and if that's what my sons talent is that would be amazing! And-" "and if it's not?" Sunny said cutting the rambling Alicorn off, "then.. i don't know, now come on, this school May be his only chance." He said as the two Alicorns walked back inside.
