VII ~ Andrew O'connor
O'connor helped me into his car. I was fine though. Both legs were moving well and my right arm was working perfectly. My left hand was bandaged. But my right arm itself was great. O'connor pulled up to his house, parking in the driveway. He opened the door for me, and helped me out. He was watching every step I took. Even though I kept reminding him that I was fine. I didn't really have a reason for being at his house. I just wanted to spend some time with him. Things where getting better, with Blake, my wounds and my parents. O'connor was someone who was always around when I needed him. I trusted Blake and his judgment towards O'connor, but I also knew how jealous he could get. We walked around the house, over to the back. There was a large field separating us to the barns. There were 2, I began making my way over to the one on the right. It was closest to me too. "Is it alright if I feed your Chickens?" I said making my way closer to the barn. O'Connor followed close behind me. "Yea sure" he said. We reached the door and he took out his keys, fiddling with them for a moment. When the doors opened a moist air covered my face. The smell was stiff and hay like. It was the month of November, so the air outside was cold. I stepped into the barn, O'Connor came in after me, closing the door behind him.
There was nothing in there, it was just an empty barn. "Where are the chickens?" I asked turning to face O'Connor. "The other barn" he said. I was confused, why would he lead me into an empty barn. Before I could ask another question, I heard a sound. It was muffled, followed by rustling in the hay. It was coming from the upper level of the barn. "Wha- Whats going on Andrew?" I said slowly backing away from him. He came closer "Please Relax It's just the wind" he grabbed my arm and led me out the barn. "I knew you weren't ready to see" he said locking the barn. "See what?" I said "Nothing, get in the car" he said grabbing my wrist again. "Ow you're hurting me!" I tried pulling away, but he was to strong. "Owww get off!" with that he let go. "What's going on Andrew...What the fuck are you talking about, not ready to see what?" his face and hands were red, he wasn't wearing a coat. "Just forget this happened Katarah" He looked annoyed "NO, You're starting to freak me out" I started walking back to the barn. I started pulling at the lock. "Get away from there Katarah, Stop acting like a child" he said grabbing me again. "Will you get your hands off of me" I said pulling away as hard as I could. "I'm not your property, don't touch me again" I said making my way towards my house, which was about half a mile away. "Where are you going?" He said coming after me. "Home! And don't bother to stop by!" I started walking quicker. "Katarah, wait, come on let me drive you home" He was behind me, I could tell he was trying not to grab me again. "It's cold out here. Come on, I'll drop you off then you won't see me again." I stopped "would you quit following me?" I started walking again. "No, not until you let me take you home" He was still behind me. I stopped again and looked at him. His blue eyes were vibrant, "what do you say?" I looked down at the grass. "Fine" I said making my way back to his house. He smiled and touched my elbow. "Don't...touch me though" I said pulling my arm away from him. "OK, Ok" he said moving away.
I got into the car and O'Connor locked the doors. Turning on the engine he said "I should let the engine heat up a bit" he looked at me. "Music?" he asked. "Sure, why not" I said rolling my eyes. He was trying to find reasons to make this a long drive. He looked at me with those blue eyes. They were sweet this time, but not sweet like Blake's. "Are you hungry?" he turned up the heat a little. It felt good on my skin. "No, just take me home" I lied, I was starving. My stomach was angry and I couldn't hide it. "I'm gonna run inside real quick, do you want anything?" he was teasing me. "Ugh yes, I'm starving" I finally broke down. "I know" he said smirking.
O'Connor returned with two cans of soda and sandwiches. They were delicious, a little spicy. I noticed Andrew watching me eat, so i kept myself busy with the sandwich and my phone. He finished eating before me. When i was done and began to demand we leave, suddenly the barn doors started to viciously shake. There was something in there, trying its best to break out. Andrew looked troubled, he was trying to decide if he should take me home and risk the escape of whatever that was. Or restrain the beast and reveal his secret. "stay right here" he said getting out the car and heading towards the barn. I got out the car and followed him. "get back in the car Katarah! I'm serious!" He was pissed and I didn't care. He grabbed a bat that was leaning on the side of the barn. He opened the door shoving something back with his hands. I heard it collapse, followed by a muffled cry. He began beating it with the wooden bat. I looked over his shoulder into the barn. My heart began to beat so violently. I began to tremble. I could feel a little vomit coming out of my throat. My body couldn't take it, I began to vomit all over the floor. " didn't I tell you to wait in the car?" He said while locking the barn door. I was still standing outside the barn I started to run for the car. O'Connor started chasing me. when he caught up he grabbed my arm. I tried to break free from his grip but this time he wasn't letting go. " Katarah, just listen to me" his face was red again. "please let me go, you're hurting me" I was crying , I couldn't stop looking at the bloody bat in his hand. " you don't understand, you can't tell anyone about this!" He pulled me towards the barn. " please let go, no! Please!" I started screaming. " shut up !" He said putting one hand over my mouth. " if I move my hand you have to promise not to scream" I bit his hand hard. "ugh!!! Sit down and listen!" He said pushing me on to the floor. " if you get up I'll hit you with this bat, and I'll do the same if you scream" he had the bloody bat in position. " what you just saw is for you, I'm doing everything for you. You don't understand Katarah. I love you. your beautiful eyes and your smooth skin. I would never let anyone hurt you." He said this while stroking my cheek. " O'Connor, you're brutally mutilating her you -" O'Connor cut my words off "They did the same to you baby, I'm just doing this for you" I was so confused "I never asked you to, this is wrong O'Connor. It's... It's n" O'Connor cut my words off again. " they almost killed you Katarah. This is what they deserve." "wha-No, you can't fight fire with fire" I started crying. "What are you talking about, "they", I- I thought it was only sky, I - I" he cut my words off again. "no...it isn't"
