We finally arrived home, both of us exhausted from a very long and tiresome day, all I could think about was getting in the house grabbing something to eat and going to sleep. I didn't see moms car anywhere which means she is working very late tonight. I began to contemplate on whether I should call mom to see if she was going to be home soon, I wanted to tell her the news but I think it might be best until she gets off of work I don't want her to have to leave work early, though her work may mean a lot to her, her children mean more to her, even if it risks her losing her job.

I know my mom and when she hears about this I can definitely see her taking time off of work until the issue is finally resolved and this guy is caught. I got Aaron into the house and started to fix something for supper, while preparing I picked up the phone and dialed moms number, it rang a few times and then moms familiar voice came through the phone.

"Hello?"

"Hey mom, Its Steph."

"Hi honey, is there something you need?"

"Not really, was just curious when you plan to come home tonight, I wanted to talk to you."

"Umm, I'm not quite sure yet. I have quite a bit to do before I can leave, is everything Ok?"

"Everything is fine at the house just wanted to talk to you about some stuff. Do you know how long your work is going to take you?

"Well it could take me anywhere from an hour to about the time you are ready to get up for school. Is this something important, and don't lie to me if it is."

"Well...." Should I say something, she did ask me not to lie...well, here goes nothing. "I guess you could say that it is, its something that happened at Aarons school today. I figured that it was important enough to tell you but I wanted to talk to you in person about it."

"Well that being the case I can make this quick, I don't have to finish all of this tonight. I can be home in about 30 minutes Ok?"

"You don't have to rush mom, but ok I will see you soon."

"Ok, love you dear!"

"Love you to mom"

Then we hung up. I stood there, not sure what I should do. Deep down I wish I wouldn't have called her because I don't want her putting her job at risk because she is the only one who can support us since our father walked out 3 years ago and we haven't heard from him since. Last thing I knew about dad is that he had moved to Florida and met someone, which is typical of him being as he was cheating on mom before he left wouldn't surprise me if it was her.

I finished making Aaron and I something to eat, we sat down and began to eat and moments later I heard moms car pull up, thank god she made it home safely. She walked though the door hands filled with things for work, did she bring her job home with her just so she could be with us?

"Hey mom, that was quicker than expected."
