A young boy
Aged three
Doesn't quite understand
Doesn't know where Daddy went
Mommy cries when she is on the phone
She crumpled to the furniture
And cries nonstop
Daddy went to the war
He promised he would be back soon
Where did he go?
The boy saw Daddy
In a bed
With people dressed in black surrounding him
Why were they watching him sleep?
Mommy put a flower on his chest
"Why is he sleeping?" He asks
"Don't you see?" Mommy replied
"Daddy's dead"
